Carol Pauline Whitley Anderson, 74, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025, in Draper, Utah, surrounded by love and comfort. She was born on December 29, 1950, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the beloved youngest of four children born to George H. Whitley and Amy Springer Whitley.
She graduated from Skyline High School, Class of 1969.
Carol was sealed to Joseph E. Anderson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, and together they raised four children before later divorcing in 1997. A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, Carol's greatest joys were always found in the lives and laughter of her family.
She was a vibrant and energetic mother who delighted in planning family activities and creating special memories—whether it was bundling up the kids for ice skating, packing snacks for the water park, organizing mountain drives, or hosting countless sleepovers filled with games and giggles. Carol had a special way of making everyday moments feel magical.
Throughout her parenting years, Carol created a home full of life, where her children were raised surrounded by animals of all kinds. She delighted in caring for their many pets, including golden retrievers, cats, mallard ducks with a backyard pond, geckos, iguanas, lizards, and even a guinea pig. Her nurturing spirit and respect for all living things instilled in her children a deep sense of kindness, service to others, and a lasting love for the earth and its creatures.
Her love for beauty and creativity was evident in her impeccable yard, which she nurtured with care and pride. She found joy in gardening, cooking, and especially in cake decorating—sharing her talents with friends and family. Carol also loved traveling, camping under the stars, and exploring family history through genealogy. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings, including Primary and Cub Scouts, always with a cheerful heart.
Carol worked at Sam’s Club from 1988 to 2018, where her warm personality and social nature made her a beloved friend and coworker to many. She treasured the connections she made there and often spoke fondly of the friendships and laughter shared over the years.
Carol had a deep love for her home, her neighborhood, and her ward. We would like to share with the members of the Crescent Ridge 5th Ward how much she truly loved you all. Your friendship and kindness brought her strength and comfort, and we as a family are sincerely grateful for the love and support you have shown her over the years.
A special thank you to Rosemary, her dear friend, who stood by her with love and care through her final years.
Carol is survived by her children:
She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings and is now reunited with them in a joyful and sacred reunion—one we imagine filled with laughter, love, and peace.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 14th at 11:00 AM at Larkin Mortuary, Sandy, with a viewing beforehand from 9:30 to 10:45 AM. Interment will follow at the Midway City Cemetery.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the CNAs and caregivers at Ashford of Draper as well as the compassionate team at Bella Vie Hospice for their loving and attentive care in Carol’s final days.

Dear Family, As Carol's first cousin, I leave my sympathy for her loss. We grew up together and had many wonderful experiences. Going to the Villa Theater, playing in the back yard. We spent the Pioneer Days with the Whitley and Skinner families. Every 24th of July was filled with family. What a great times we has growing up. We all became very close friends. Carol and Jeremy were special to our son Danny who was ill with cancer. They were so special and sincerely thoughtful. Soon they were best friends. Very sacred memories. We did so many fun things together during that 7 years. We are truly going to miss her smiles and remembering the old days and our roots became very strong. Love Dan and Bonnie
