Obituary

Carole Isabelle Fairclough Rowe passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2026, due to complications from a fall and subsequent hip surgery.

Born in Salt Lake City, December 8, 1937 to Roy J Fairclough and Vivian Rose Lozo. She graduated from South High School and pursued a medical education at the University of Utah. She applied her nursing skills in the U.S. Navy, stationed in San Diego, CA, where she met her husband, John B. Rowe, who passed in 2010. They were married on February 3, 1962 at Ft. Douglas and on December 18, 1963, was sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple.

Her sister, Barbara Fairclough passed away in 2025.

She is survived by their 5 children, 12 Grandchildren and 10 Great-Grandchildren.

She had a lovely soprano voice and sang with the Eleanor Kennard Chorale, through their final performance in 2004 and for many years with the American West Symphony & Chorus, under the direction of Joel Rosenberg.

Carole supported the arts and was a key supporter as her children pursued music, theatre, gymnastics, and dance. Between the late 1970s and early 1990s she chauffeured her children to downtown Salt Lake City from Sandy on nearly a daily basis while they rehearsed and performed for Promised Valley and other various plays and musicals, Mormon Youth Symphony & Chorus, and various other productions to celebrate the church's sesquicentennial events, often with the string bass instrument sticking out the car window. Her support extended to her grandchildren as they also pursued theatre, ice skating competitions, and school activities.

She served on the arts council for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a service mission in the early 1990s with her husband to support the Bishop's Storehouse in Sandy.

Scrapbooking was her hobby and her passion as she documented the family's accomplishments. She was always on the lookout for specific paper and stickers to add more and more pages to the books. Her scrapbooks are a legacy of love and devotion for her family.

A viewing and gathering to remember her life will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 from 10AM to 11AM at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Road, Sandy, UT 84092.

In lieu of flowers, please support the arts program of your choice in her memory.
