Carol Stoddard

1935 ~ 2024

Caroline Gunnell Bailey Stoddard was born in Wellsville, Utah on January 20, 1935, to Thomas Bradshaw Bailey and Caroline Mitton Gunnell Bailey. She peacefully passed away on the morning of April 29, 2024 in Provo, Utah.

Carol’s childhood was filled with hard work, various school activities and having fun with great friends.

Carol and her husband Keith met as teenagers, and it was love at first sight. Some of their most memorable dates were dancing to the Mendon Jazz at the Elite Hall in Hyrum. They maintained their love of Dixieland Jazz music throughout their lives and attended jazz festivals together all over the country.

Keith served 4 years in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict. On August 5, 1954, six months prior to his discharge, he and Carol were married in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. Carol was active in the Church her entire life having served in many callings, including Young Women and Primary. She and Keith served as Church Service Missionaries for 9 years at the Family History Library in downtown Salt Lake City.

Carol was a consummate homemaker. She was a great cook, baker and seamstress and enjoyed canning, interior design, housekeeping and gardening. She made everything special. Her home was decorated beautifully, especially during each holiday throughout the year. Her children and their families will forever remember Easter dinners and egg hunts, Mother’s Day weekend pedicures, summer picnics, annual Lagoon days, Newport Beach and Disneyland vacations, Halloween parties, Thanksgiving dinners and Christmas celebrations. She was always up for a good time, especially if it meant being with and supporting her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Carol and Keith had a wonderful life. They served, travelled the world, and shared all the ups and downs of life together for nearly 70 years.
As a family we are eternally grateful for their commitment to their faith, family and each other.

Carol is survived by her husband, Keith; children Julie (Richard) Pratt, Curtis (Nancy) Stoddard and Sharon (Curt) Holman as well as 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Dorothy (Robert) Baxter, Thomas (Charlotte) Bailey, and Shirley (Clyde) Demler.

Services will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary (1950 East 10600 South, Sandy) on Friday, May 3rd at 2:00pm with a viewing at 1:00pm.
