Carolyn was born on September 29, 1937, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is the only child of Willard Eugene Terry and Frieda May Rosenau. She was baptized as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when she was 16 years old. She graduated from South High School in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Carolyn married Irving LeRoy Baker on 5 July 1957 in Los Vegas, Nevada. They made their home in Oswego, New York. They were blessed with twin boys, Thomas Edward Baker and Timothy Eugene Baker. Irv and Carolyn were later divorced. Carolyn raised her boys as a single mom in Salt Lake, Utah.
She worked at the Telemation Company where she put together computer circuit boards.
She married Delmer Hodges Smith on Sep. 12, 1981, in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were sealed in the Jordan River Utah Temple on Sep 12, 2002. Del had two daughters of his own, Krista Lynne Smith and Kathy Ann Smith.
Del and Carolyn enjoyed camping. Their favorite cat, Coon went everywhere with them on a leash. They were members of the Family Campers and RV’ers and traveled around the country. They were also the directors of DAT [Disaster Awareness Training] for 6 years. While Del did the driving, Carolyn spent her time doing Swedish weaving. Later she started knitting hats. She donated hundreds of hats to the Primary Children’s Medical Hospital. Her latest hobby was doing Diamond Dotz pictures. They made her walls sparkle! She enjoyed playing games and socializing with other people.
She is survived by her son Tom Baker and stepdaughter Kathy (Michael) DeJong. She has 3 granddaughters and 7 step-grandchildren who all lovingly call her grandma. She claims 27 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren as her own. She was preceded in death by her parents Willard and Frieda Terry, her husband Delmer Smith, her son Tim Baker and stepdaughter Krista (Roger) Hemingway.
Carolyn will be laid to rest next to her husband Delmer H. Smith along with the ashes of her beloved cat, Coon.

Guestbook/Condolences

Carolyn was my mother in law for many years and continued to love me and treat me like her daughter no matter what. I hope she is at peace and is catching up with Del and her son Tim.

Rest easy and I love you ❤️😇
