Casey E. Jones

1951 ~ 2023

Casey E. Jones Sr., 71, passed away peacefully in his favorite place in Idaho on July 29, 2023. His battle with cancer in the recent past showed his courage in facing life's challenges with a smile. Spite the pain Casey came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.

Casey was born to Ted E Jones and Vera Gordon Jones on October 8, 1951. He was the baby of his family. His siblings Jack Jones, Blaine, Joanne Olmstead, and Teddy Smith. He grew up fixing cars, stealing a tractor, charging kids to walk in front of his house, and always staying close to his friends. He was drafted into the military and served in the Army as a cook instructor.

He married his high school sweetheart Deborah Folkman, on August 27, 1971. They lived a beautiful love story where they had 4 children, Tammy Gines (Lee Gines), Casey Jones Jr. (Tracy Jones), Tina Murdock (Ben Hodgson), Timothy Jones (Desi Jones). They were blessed with and found the most joy with their 17 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Casey was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served for countless years as a scout master. He and Debbie also served as inter-city missionaries.

Casey loved to golf, fish, camp, spend time with friends and family, travel with his sweetheart, and he was always giving to and serving others.
He is preceded in death by his parents (Ted and Vera Jones), brothers (Jack and Blaine), sister (Joanne), and grandchildren (Wacey Gines and Brier Jones).

There will be viewing held in his honor on August 11, 2023, at Larkin Sunset Gardens (1950 E. 10600 S. Sandy, UT) from 6:00-8:00 pm. Funeral will be held August 12, 2023, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ward Building (6695 S. 2200 W. I worked with Casey for many years. He was a great friend who always had a kind heart. I have so many memories of him from taking me golfing to his dressing up as Santa for my kids. You will be missed my friend. Till we meet again. So sorry for the family’s loss.

Although Casey and Debbie haven't lived in Tennessee very long, they have become much-loved members of the Grove Park Ward, with Casey serving as our Elders Quorum Secretary. Always ready to help others, Casey had a ready smile and a kind word.
We shall miss you greatly Brother Jones.

Casey was one of the most Christlike people we have ever met. He gave and loved and cared. His kindness was always appreciated but probably taken for granted all too often. Our ward has felt his loss deeply since they moved and will continue to do so now that he has passed. We are saddened to lose such a champion of kindness. Our deepest condolences to Debbie and the rest of the Jones family.
