Catherine Louise Butterfield left this mortal life on Friday, June 17th at the age of 74 due to cardiac failure while surrounded by loved ones she treasured. She was born in the city of Los Angeles on July 25, 1947 to Howard and Betty Williams. Cathy was a long-time resident of Herriman, Utah but always prided herself on being a California girl with long blonde hair and lashes.

She took a chance and found the love of her life in Clint. She adored him and his cowboy hat. They were married on December 20, 1979 and their families became one. Above all, she was proud of the family she created with him. He was her priority, as was she, Dad took great care of her. They were devoted to each other and carried a deep love for one another that is an inspiration for all of us who truly knew it.

We affectionately refer to her as Mom, Maw, Grammy or Mimi by those she held dearest. Mom took pride in the meals she provided to nourish her family and the opportunity to bring them together. She served the Utah Boy’s Ranch, Jordan Valley Hospital and others with her love and talent for cooking. Mom had an appreciation for the finer things in life and felt a deep need to provide for and spoil others. She had a couple of earth shattering moments in her life, one when she lost her first-born daughter, Betty, to a car accident at the age of 22, and second when she was forced into retirement when her health began to decline. Mom was a 5’3’’ feisty little thing, especially behind the wheel of a big rig, a UTA bus or simply riding a horse. She loved to read a wide range of authors and progressed from hardback copies, kindle and ultimately to her iPad, her favorite authors being Danielle Steel and Stephen King. She had an appreciation of music, especially rap and hip hop and was more than content to watch football on her own on any given Sunday.

She is survived by her loving husband, Clint, her children Trisha Day, Andrea Butterfield, Lynn (Nadine) Michael, Kim Michael, Jamie (Myreen) Michael, Leanne (Dave) Douglas, Rick (Tara) Michael, Nicole (James) Brimhall, and Natalie (Jason) Clark. In addition, she treasured her 19 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren which brought her the greatest joy and sense of accomplishment. She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved daughter Betty Michael and her great granddaughter Zoe Lynn Day. The loss we feel is beyond words and will never be filled. Although we cherished the time we had with Mom, we are grateful that she has moved on from the health challenges she faced over the last decade and is now at peace.

Funeral services will be held in Riverton at Larkin Mortuary at 3688 W 12600 S on Thursday, June, 23, 2022 at 11:00 am. Friends and loved ones are welcome to come ahead for a viewing at 10:00 am. Interment at Herriman Cemetery to follow.
