Dortha Christine Olsen

1951 ~ 2020

Dortha Christine Shafer Olsen, age 68, peacefully passed from this world on Monday, February 17th, 2020. She was born on October 4th, 1951 as the fourth child to Donna and Bill Shafer. She grew up with her siblings, Danny, Doug, Diana, Connie, and Julie.

She graduated from Bonneville Highschool on May 29th, 1970. She gained lifelong friends from her time there, writing them with frequency and consistency. She often went roller skating and dancing with her friends.

Christine was a writer at heart. She wrote journals, poems, books, dates, notes or anything she could get her hands on. She expressed her feelings and frustrations through the written word. She had a few poems published in poetry book in 1988. Along with many more personal stories that wrote for her own enjoyment.

She dedicated her life to God and routinely read the Bible and the Book of Mormon. She would read stories and passages every night before bed.

She met the love of her life Reed Chad Olsen at the Bay in Downtown Salt Lake. Their attraction was immediate, and it fostered a relationship and they were married on April 26th, 1991 living a full life of 28 years 9 months and 28 days of marriage. She led a life of friendship. She saw herself as amazing mother. Christine was a mother six children. Inheriting 5 children; Katie, Daniel, Jonathan, Heather, and Stannie Olsen, with the marriage to Reed. Also having one biological child William Christopher Olsen born on August 14th, 1992.

She fiercely loved everyone one of them through the trials and tribulations of parenthood. She grew a fierce protection over her family and cared for all of them as best she could. She loved to take her family on vacations or go camping.

Being with family is what made her happiest and she is now happily awaiting us in heaven and watching over all of us that she cared so much about.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 21, 2020 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Larkin Mortuary Riverton, 3688 W. 12600 S. Riverton, Utah 84065.

Following the visitation, there will be a gathering at Brookshite Ward, 1325 West 5550 South, Taylorsville, Utah 84123.
