Obituary Photo for Charlene Brown Price < >

July 12,1941, a beautiful bouncing blue-eyed baby girl joined her family in Richfield, Utah; that family would come to consist of her parents Cazell and Reva Brown; her older sister RaeZell, younger sister Judy and baby brother Richard. It was the start of an adventurous life which included travel, service and numerous hobbies.

Her family moved from Richfield to Magna, Utah where Charlene attended Webster Elementary School, Brockbank Junior High and Cyprus High School. During those years she made excellent marks and made lifelong friends. After graduation, Charlene pursued her interest in cosmetology. She attended and graduated from beauty school at the top of her class. Char was known as being imaginative, creative and innovative. She delighted in running her own salon in the basement of the Payne home. It was a very welcoming place that allowed her to pursue her artistic passion while having her children close.

She married Chad B. Payne in 1961. Chad and Charlene had three children; Shellie Payne Hansen, Jodi Payne Roberts and Richard “Kay” Payne. As a family they enjoyed camping, boating, and playing in their backyard.

In 1988, she married Dennis L. Price; they were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple. Dennis and Charlene saw the four corners of the globe, but never missed a significant event in her children or grandchildren’s children’s lives. When close to a Temple, they did not miss the opportunity to attend and feel the Spirit. They both enjoyed working in the Idaho Falls and the Jordan River Temples.

Mom enjoyed family time more than anything else on the earth. She was a “mom”s mom”. She was gentle as a lamb with her children and grandchildren but was as fierce as a mother bear in their defense. Her main goal was to be the best grandmother as anyone could be and she did not just meet that goal she exceeded it. She was an absolutely selfless and caring matriarch.

Charlene will be terribly missed by her children; Shellie Payne Hansen, Jodi Payne Roberts, Kay (Tyan) Payne; and her Grandchildren; Kennadi (Jessie) Davis, Zackary “Zack” Roberts, Elder Kayden Payne, Sister Katherine Payne, Lyndsey Payne, and Justus Payne. Stepson Randy (Shirley) Price. Grandsons; Eric (Jenn) Price, Mike (Katie) Price; Jordan Price. Great grandsons; Clarke Price, Carter Price, Vinny Price, Duke Price. Great granddaughters; Allison Price, Isabella Price.

Charlene’s family would like to thank Intermountain Home Health Care and Hospice (Cassidy #1; Kassadi #2) Plus, all the friends and family who helped when things were difficult.

Graveside services will be held Monday May 8, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens located at 1950 E Dimple Dell Road in Sandy. A short viewing will be held prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 am.

Greater love hath no man than to give their life to others. Charlene was always happy and grateful for the life she was given. She accomplished much but I think her greatest treasures were her children and grandchildren. She always spoke of them. She taught them well to be loving and kind. They took great care of her in the last few years. You will be sorely missed but you were valiant to the end. We love you and Shellie. Can’t name one without the other. Greater love hath a woman

What a fun gal to visit Charlene was! We will miss her wit and the twinkle in her eye when she would joke around with us. Thank you for sharing your sweet mom with us. I have no doubt she watches over each of you.
