  • Charles John Schick passed away peacefully and joyfully in Salt Lake City, Utah on December 6, 2021 at the age of 64, when he was reunited with his loving parents, grandparents, niece (Carol), nephew (Kevin) and many others who were waiting for him to return home. He was born to Hyrum Schick, Sr. and Carol F. Schick on March 19, 1957 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Chuck was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and he had a strong testimony of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and His Atonement for all mankind. He attended West High School and graduated from the Columbus Community Center in 1977. He loved astronomy, dinosaurs and reading almanacs. He also had impeccable penmanship and a photographic memory.

He was able to remember many significant dates, facts and historical events and loved talking to others about them. He was also a kind, gentle, loving and compassionate soul, who delighted in taking care of his mother (after his father died) and his sister (Marlana) after his mother died. He also enjoyed helping other residents who lived with him at the Hillcrest Care Center for the last 21 years, even if it were just opening a door for someone.

Chuck is survived by his siblings: April (Lowell) Penrod, Hyrum Schick, Jr., Christopher (Robin) Schick, Marlana Schick, and by 7 nieces and 3 nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, a niece and a nephew.

I was saddened to hear of Chucks's passing. We had some good times as kids on our trips to Salt Lake.

I am so very sorry to learn of Chuck’s passing. I attended grade school and primary with him as a young, sometimes unruly boy. I regret that I was not always kind to him. It’s been a desire in my life to find him so I could apologize and seek his forgiveness.

He was a kind, genuinely good person whose rewards await him.

My very best wishes to his family,

    Kim Christy

I knew Chuck from the days where we went to church at the Ensign ward. We went to primary together, as he was my same age. I remember that his memory was extraordinary. He memorized the 13 articles of faith faster than everyone else.
I wanted to connect with Chuck over the years but did not know how to get a hold of him. I’m sorry that I did not try harder.
The last time saw Chuck it was 30 years ago! I had the opportunity to introduce my children to him. I wanted my kids to know about this special person that I grew up with. Chuck is now together with his parents, and that is a great thing.
