Charles Derrel Pattillo

1941 ~ 2022

We are saddened to announce the passing of Charles Derrel Pattillo. He left this earth on the morning of July 31, 2022, at Cedar Ridge Specialty Care Center in Cedar Park Texas.

Charles was born on January 15, 1941, to Charles David Pattillo and Thelma Jane Carmack in Tallassee Alabama. He spent his formative years in Phenix City AL where he graduated from Central HS in 1959.

He was preceeded in death by the love of his life, Julie Anne Dowling in May of 2019, also by his brothers, Joe Winston and Billy Frank Pattillo. He is survived by a son, David of Kearns Utah, Daughters Jenifer Emmerson (Ryan) of Georgetown Texas, and Betsy Pattillo of Cedar Park Texas; four granddaughters, Karis Brizendine (John) of West Memphis, AR, Courtney Ramirez (Miguel) of Proctor, AR, Janna Trovato (Nick) of Draper, Utah, Emily Shawhan (Dylan) of Georgetown, TX; three great-grandsons and three great-granddaughters.

Charles and Julie were married Aug 14th, 1960, in Columbus Georgia, where they also raised their family. Charles obtained a BS degree in business and accounting from Columbus College in 1970. He worked for Aflac, Royal Crown Cola, and General Cinema Corp. He spent the last 22 years of his career on the campus of Columbus State University (CSU). He retired in November 2006 as the VP of business and finance at CSU.
Charles was active with the Exchange Club in Columbus, volunteered with numerous crisis hotlines, work tirelessly for Special Olympics. He was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints.

After retiring from CSU, Charles moved to South Jordan, Utah with Julie and Betsy, in May 2007. He relocated to Texas in Dec 2018. He always enjoyed taking $2 bills to the neighborhood kids on their birthdays and Christmas, and for all other milestones, they accomplished throughout the years.

A Graveside Service will be held on Sat., Sept. 3, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary 13001 South 3600 West - Riverton, Utah 84065.
