Christopher Thomas Nelson

1963 ~ 2024

Chris, a man who brought warmth, humor, and loyal love into the lives of those around him, was born on February 20, 1963, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. On January 10, 2024, Chris unexpectedly passed away at his home in Salt Lake City, UT. Leaving family and friends devastated.

Chris married his beloved wife, Veronica, on October 30, 1993. Over their 30 years together they built a beautiful family consisting of three sons, Christopher, Nathaniel and Roman, who were the absolute center of their lives. Chris was eager to welcome Tamara to the family as Nathaniel’s wife. Chris and Ronnie are exceptionally proud that they have raised wonderful people that they enjoy spending time with. Chris was an incredible father who prioritized time with his family above all else. Emphasizing memories over things, the Nelsons experienced many travel adventures together. Chris enjoyed connecting his family to his love of Philadelphia and all of it’s amazing and infuriating sports teams, except the sixers (Go Jazz!). Many of Nelson’s travel adventures were sports related and memories that his sons will cherish forever. Chris could often be found playing all sports (except soccer) in the yard with his boys. Even as adults they still made time to throw the ball together. Chris was more than a dedicated father. He was a best friend, a mentor, and a wonderful role model.

To his sons Chris instilled the importance of a strong work ethic, being a gentleman, being kind, helpful and generous. He taught his children how to stand up for themselves and others, but also how to forgive. Each of Chris’ children will carry on essential traits of him. Chris’ love of music and movies was shared with his youngest son, Roman, his love of cars (especially Afa Romeo’s) and engineering with his son Nate, and with Christopher he shared his sentimental nature and his love of sports.

A true car guy, Chris spent many years in the auto industry. He loved working a deal. Ultimately, he set this love aside to become CFO of the family business, a business that would not exist without the love, support and financial acumen Chris shared.

In addition to his roles as husband and father, Chris was a cherished Son-in-Law, Father-in-law, Uncle, Cousin, and beloved friend who cultivated enduring relationships with people from all walks of life. Chris was fiercely loyal and would do anything within his power to help others wherever he could. Chris was a faithful member of the Central City Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and had the hope of a resurrection to a paradise on earth, a hope that he often spoke about with others.

Chris loved the great outdoors and animals. He loved his dogs and could often be seen driving with one on his shoulder. Chris had an unparalleled talent for finding humor in everything. He possessed an insatiable curiosity about people, genuinely eager to hear their stories and perspectives. Count on Chris to inject a dash of irreverence into any conversation, much to his wife's endearing cringes. He was unfiltered but genuine, a rare combination of candidness and compassion that never failed to bring a smile to our faces. Our lives were undeniably enriched by having known him.
