Obituary

Claudia Marie Jansen, a beloved mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026, in Utah. She was born on December 18, 1938, in Trinidad, Colorado, to Matias Matt Medina and Rose Trujillo Bostain.

Claudia was lovingly raised in Denver, Colorado, by Jack K. Beatty and Juanita Beatty. She was a proud graduate of Holy Family High School in Denver. Furthering her commitment to healthcare, she earned an Associates Degree and graduated from St. Anthony’s Hospital School of Practical Nursing in Denver, embarking on a dedicated career as an LPN.

On October 3, 1959, Claudia married Isais Max Jaramillo in Durango, Colorado. They later divorced in 1976. She found enduring love with Ronald Lee Jansen, whom she married on July 9, 1983, in Smithfield, Utah.

Claudia dedicated 25 years of her professional life to the U.S. Federal Government, retiring from the VA Medical Center, where she began her employment in 1970. In 2007, she continued her service to the community, working at Walmart for 10 years. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Sunset Ridge 10th Ward in West Jordan, Utah.

Claudia was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Ronald Lee Jansen (May 26, 2009), and her beloved sons, David Matthew Jaramillo (1985), Perry Mark Jaramillo (August 24, 2015), and Thomas Max Jaramillo (April 1, 2019).

She is survived by her devoted sisters, Mary Ann Unsworth (David) and Darlene Morris; her loving daughters, Valarie Marie Cassity (Randi) and Valerie Lynn Jansen; and her son, Paul Michael Jaramillo (Kandie). Claudia’s legacy also lives on through her grandchildren: Thomas Jaramillo, Arlando Jaramillo, Jenna Jaramillo, Isaiah Begaye, Kinsie Jaramillo Alcox (Erik), and Kamie Jaramillo. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Amaya Lee Medina, Isaiah Mark Ortega, Dominic Antonio Ortega, Elias Jaramillo, Rayleis Begaye, and Keelie Alcox, and a great-great-grandchild, Nathaniel Jaramillo.

A viewing will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 6:00 PM. Another viewing will take place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM on the same day. Interment will take place at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
