Clifton Dick Michaelsen passed away on May 1, 2023, in Payson, Utah. He was born on April 12, 1940, in Elsinore, Utah to Elroy Michaelsen and Juanita Nielson.

He married his high school sweetheart, Marjorie Janice Shields on April 27, 1959, and had three sons he was very proud of, Blake, Clint and Chad. He was most proud of his grandkids and would always try to attend any events they had. When he was asked about any of his kids or grandkids, he would brag them up, sometimes with a little embellishment and the stories got better and better, we call it, “THE MICHAELSEN WAY”.

He was a man of success in all his endeavors, he was a Safeway Manager at 21 years old and a few years later took a job at General Mills where he worked for 31 years achieving many Salesman of the Year awards and was able to retire at 53. Did I say retire?

He spent his entire life in the horse industry. He trained and bred Arabian horses for over 30 years. His successes in the Arabian horse world were endless. His love for the Arabian horses never ended but he later moved on to raising and breeding Thoroughbred horses.

Dick is survived by his wife Marjorie Janice Michaelsen, son Blake Michaelsen, son Clint Michaelsen, son Chad (Julie) Michaelsen. Grandsons, Brandon, Justin, Ryan, Luke, Colton, Preston, and Granddaughters, Lexie, Breanna, Karlee, Sophie, many great grandkids, sister AnnaVon Thornton (Ted), brothers Royal Michaelsen (Carol), and Brent Michaelsen (Marsha).

A viewing will be held Saturday May 6th from 1:30 to 2:15 at Larkin Sunset Gardens and graveside services will begin shortly after.

Guestbook/Condolences

One of Michealsen’s cousins has passed away. Dick was one of the best-looking men in our family of the Michaelsen. Our parents Julia and Neldon Burr with Juanita and Elroy Michealsen went on their honeymoon with each other. They went to the mountain where Neldon was tending the shepherd. And stayed in the little shepherd camp trailer. They had the children at the same time. And it didn't stop there. Dick and JaNell we're born one week apart. Year's later, Brent and Bonnie was born a week apart. I always thought they were good friends, besides brother and sisters. I wished one of our parents would have told someone about more experiences in those days. Love, Bonnie.

I was so sad to hear that Dick passed away. My heart goes out to all of you and l want you to know l would have been there had l known. Clint, l know how you have been there helping your parents for so many years now and this has got to be the most difficult thing for you to go through. Dick was a hard headed man and tough on his sons but l think that's how he loved them and did the best that he knew how. I know he was proud of them even when he didn't show it because of conversations we had...years and years ago. I am thankful for everything he did for me and grateful to have known him. Sending love and peace to Janice, Clint, Blake, Chad, and all the families respectively.
