Colette Liddell

1937 ~ 2023

LIDDELL, Colette, age 86, of Holladay, Utah, passed peacefully away on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. Colette was born in Cannonville, Utah, on November 13, 1937. She is the ninth of 11 children to Irving and Daisie Johnson.

She held a variety of work positions during her life and was a fast avid reader. This helped her quickly learn new skills. She was very accomplished and respected by her co-workers. She was known for her laugh, smile and energy for life. She was always singing.

She was an accomplished seamstress and very adventurous. She loved sewing dresses for herself and her three young daughters. She also made beautiful quilts which she often recruited help from her friends and family.

To say that Colette was proud of her pioneer heritage would be an understatement. She spent much of her free time learning pioneer stories and in genealogy research. She loved to look at old documents and photos which brought the stories of history to life. Colette was a proud member of both the Daughters of the American Revolution and Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and at one time was on the Board of Directors. This gave her the opportunity to speak to many people about topics she loved and enjoyed meeting new people wherever she went. Lectures also led to finding relatives. Her laugh was infectious and everyone knew when Colette was in the room.

Preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers and 3 sisters. She is survived by her sister Karel Robinson (Gary). Colette is also survived by her childhood sweetheart and husband of 69 years, Edward; 3 daughters; Janice Farmer (Royal), Anita Williams (Steve), Eydie Liddell (Richard); 1 son Darrin Liddell (Kelly); 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She loved her family and was very proud of them. She loved to attend their events, see their smiles and hear about their everyday lives.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 16, at 12:00 PM at the LDS ward house located at 2625 Milo Way (4910 South), Holladay, UT. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM on Saturday before the service. Interment will follow the service at Larkin Sunset Gardens located at 1950 E. We loved having her in the General William Henry Ashley Chapter, Colonial Dames Seventeenth Century. She was such a sweet lady and she will be missed.

She was my sister-in-law. My wife and I had our first child, and Collette instantly became another grandma to our son. She doted on him and made things for him. The perfect grandma, until......
Her first granddaughter, Talia, arrived. Then her priorities immediately and appropriately went to Talia. But we surely missed grandma Collette in our home.

Our sincere condolences to the Liddell family. Our apologies we could not make the service to pay our respects as we were out of the country. What a magnificent woman and key contributor to such a wonderful family.
With love,
