Craig Max Sauer, 67, of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away on March 1, 2025. A doting husband, beloved father, devoted grandfather, and dedicated teacher, Craig’s life was defined by his passion for helping others.

Craig spent his career as a massage therapist and an esteemed instructor, sharing his knowledge at Provo College, Ameritech, and Myotherapy Massage School. He had a profound impact on his students, always ready to lend an ear and offer guidance to those in need. His love for holistic medicine extended beyond the classroom, as he sought to heal and uplift those around him.

Beyond his profession, Craig was a skilled woodworker, a talented painter, and a man who found joy in creating with his hands. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Denmark, an experience that shaped his lifelong commitment to service and faith. One of his favorite traditions was going out for sushi with his daughter, Kirsten, a time they both cherished. He also shared a deep love of storytelling and creativity with his son, Jason, spending countless hours playing and building role-playing games together. Most of all, he adored his granddaughter, Phoebe, and loved to make her laugh by pulling silly faces.

Craig was a devoted and loving husband to his wife, Roxanne, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership. Their bond was one of unwavering support, deep affection, and shared laughter, and he cherished every moment spent by her side.

Craig is survived by his loving wife, Roxanne Sauer; his brother, Blair Sauer; his children, Jason Sauer and Kirsten Hobson; and his cherished granddaughter, Phoebe Hobson.

His kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Family and friends are invited to honor Craig’s life at a funeral service on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Larkin Sunset Gardens 1950 E 10600 S (Dimple Dell Rd.) Sandy, UT 84092. When my husband Ray died, Craig made it a point to occasionally text me jokes and give me a smile. He was just kind and thoughtful like that. Here are some of his jokes:
I'm thinking about sewing my jokes onto sweaters,
I think people will really enjoy my knit wits.
😅
Ya know...
I was just thinking about parallel lines
They have so much in common, it's a shame they'll never meet.
😁😁😁

Who hides Easter eggs that they never want you to find?
The Dust Bunny
Say, what do witches use for research? Wicked pedia. 😏
What's the hardest part of having an ant as a pet?
Putting the leash on, duh.
Why did the man quit his job recycling shoes?
It was sole crushing.
Thank you Craig for bringing a bit of sunshine to my dark days.

Roxanne I am so sorry for your loss. Oh how Craig loves you! You have always been his angel and now he is yours as well. Thank you for your kindness to me in my grief. I am sending the same comfort and peace to you. God bless you.

Craig was such an amazing person. He was so kind, caring, and thoughtful. He hired me for the front desk when I was pregnant and was so thoughtful that as my due date got closer he would call to check in with me everytime I worked. It meant the world that he cared so much and showed such concern on my behalf. Craig will be missed dearly and he has touched my heart beyond words can describe. I am so honored to have had the opportunity to get to know him may he forever live in our hearts.

I am saddened to hear of the loss of Craig. I met him in 1999, as a freshman divorced, broken female. I relocated to Utah and found myself studying massage therapy under his guidance. I loved every second of it. His stories, jokes, knowledge, everything. He saved me from my depression. He had a gift of healing the body and the soul. Thank you, Craig.

Craig was such an amazing customer at Shirlyns. I always enjoyed when He & has Wife came in. Craig was so knowledgeable about health & massage. I loved hearing his stories of success with massage & his clients. He also had a great knowledge of herbs & loved helping people. I will miss him.

I'm late to this news.
And I am heartbroken.
I graduated from Provo College with an education and passion for massage therapy based on Craig and his limitless knowledge.
And kindness.
I remember sitting in his office while he told me he could offer some father-like support since I grew up without any.
I finally, after nearly 20 years, opened my own massage practice and wanted so badly to tell him.
I hope he can see, and I hope he's proud.
