  • Our loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, and uncle Craig Steven Webb, age 74, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 14th, 2022, in his home in Salt Lake City, Utah, of natural causes. He was born on October 14, 1947, in Salt Lake City to Wilford George and BeverLee Jane Rice Webb. He was a natural athlete and loved to play basketball and baseball, with a notable achievement of pitching a no-hitter in his youth. As a child he loved going on summer vacations with his family to Yellowstone as well as the family cabin in Millcreek Canyon. He had fond memories from his childhood of fishing and tubing in the neighborhood creek. Craig was also a wonderful and protective big brother to his sisters Vickie and Lisa.

Craig graduated from Granite High School in 1965 where he played baseball and basketball. He served an LDS mission to the Virginia /North Carolina mission, and upon his return attended the University of Utah. He was married to Patricia Ruth Butterfield in the Salt Lake Temple on May 25, 1972 by President N. Eldon Tanner. He worked for Kirby Investment Co. (later Allwest Credit), American Express, and retired from the State of Utah.

He was an avid fisherman and never passed up an opportunity to cast one of his many poles. Craig was involved with coaching his sons’ sports teams, and was equally proud and supportive of his daughters’ dance and cheer. He was a devoted fan of the University of Utah athletic teams and a season ticket holder to many. A mainstay for family vacations each summer was Sun Valley, Idaho, a place he loved dearly, but also enjoyed visiting Southern California and Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

He was known for his sense of humor and wit, and was a true jokester. He also had a sweet tooth. Craig served in bishoprics under two bishops and on the Stake High Council in addition to several other church callings. He particularly loved serving with the youth. Most of all, Craig was very proud of the accomplishments of his children, their spouses and his six grandchildren. He loved his family dearly and constantly sought to help them in any way.

Craig is survived by his wife, Patricia, sister Vickie Meyer (Gordon), son Ryan (Brandi), daughter Wendy (Brandon), son Mike (Lyndsi), daughter Jen, and grandchildren Kierstyn and Kaija Webb; Chase and Emma Fleming; and Bentley and Carter Webb. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and BeverLee Webb, sister Lisa Gay Hultgren, and nephew Greg Meyer.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 20th at 11:00 AM in the chapel at the Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 E. 1300 South in Salt Lake City. A viewing will be held Wednesday, January 19th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the same location, and again from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM Thursday morning immediately preceding funeral services. He will be laid to rest at the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 200 N Street.

Due to the recent spike in COVID-19 cases, funeral services will be limited to immediate family members only. A live stream will be available via Zoom with this link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88384864242, you must have a Zoom account to access the service. All are welcomed to attend the viewings and Interment at Salt Lake City Cemetery at the conclusion of the funeral (approx. 12:30 PM).

Craig was such a pleasure to work with and to know. He was always concerned about how other people were doing. My sincere condolences to his wife and family. I will miss his updates and how his eyes lit up when sharing stories of his adventures with his family.

    Dear Pat,

Just want you to know I am thinking of you and your family. I watched Craig's funeral today. It was a beautiful comforting service. He sounds like he was a wonderful husband, father, and man. I hope you and your family receive comfort and peace from our Heavenly Father at this time.

I am sorry that I was not closer to the Tebbs Family. I sure remember 540 Koneta Court, Freckles, and your wonderful Mom and Dad and all of you children. Didn't we call you Patsy when you were little?
I love you and all the Tebbs cousins.
