Owen Howard Reichman

1932 ~ 2018

Our loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully on February 3, 2018.

Howard was born in Washington, D.C. on October 1, 1932 to Owen G. Reichman and Stella Cheshire Reichman. He spent his childhood in Salt Lake City and attended the University of Utah where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics. He met Nancy Lou Topping in a Chemistry class. They fell in love and were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on July 20, 1953.

Howard attended Medical School at the University of Utah and then trained in New York and Denver before returning to Salt Lake City. After nine years in private practice, he and Nancy moved to Chicago, Illinois for 20 years where Howard was the Chief of Neurosurgery at Loyola University Medical Center.

Howard was a faithful and active member of the LDS Church. His testimony of the gospel guided him throughout his life. He served as a teacher and leader in the wards in each place he lived. He was blessed with the opportunity to serve as Bishop of the Suburban West Ward for seven years.

Howard played the violin, he loved to ski, and he enjoyed being with his family.

Howard is survived by two daughters, Kathleen (Eric) Ericksen, Shirley (Steve) Ence; five sons, Howard (Marianne), Mark (Dawndi), Owen (Robin), Russell (Loydeen), and Doug (Christina); 32 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on Friday, February 16, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah. The funeral services will be held at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at noon. A viewing will be held prior to the services from 10:30 to 11:30 am. Burial will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
