Shirley Ann Rollins

1944 ~ 2017

Our loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Sister, and friend passed away peacefully at home after years of chronic illness. Shirley Ann Little was born to Everett Johnson Little and Rhea Swainston on June 21, 1944, in Ogden, Utah. She was a member of the LDS Church. She lived and attended schools in Devils Slide and Morgan, Utah, and later attended Davis High School. At age 17, she met and married Donald Blood, and 14 months later their son, Todd, was born. She and Donald later divorced.

Shirley married Darrell Rollins in 1965, and together they had a daughter, Daryl Gene. Darrell was a career Army soldier, and Shirley and her children travelled the world with him in his duty assignments, including: Hawaii, Colorado, Germany, and California. Shirley and Darrell eventually retired to Redding, California. They later divorced.

Shirley was a homemaker through most of her children's growing up years, and later began to work as a Bank Teller for Bank of America. In 1990, Shirley moved back to Utah, where she began working for Mountain America Credit Union, a job in which she took great pride serving loan and title customers. She was thorough and conscientious, and appreciated by many.

Mom was independent and strong-willed, and had an inner strength which allowed her to stay with us longer than her body would have wanted. She was warm and friendly, and greatly loved her children, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brother, sister-in-law, and all extended family. She loved animals, and almost always had a pet, which she lovingly cared for. She loved to sing along with CDs and the radio, her favorite being Neil Diamond songs. We will miss having her serenade us on long car rides.

The night before she passed she called for, and we are certain was later greeted by, her Mother, Father, and husband Darrell. We take great solace in the peace that death brought her, and in the instant embraces of those she had so dearly missed. We will look forward to our own reunion with Mom, who will no doubt run to the front of the line to greet us.

Shirley is survived by her children: Todd (Kathleen) Blood and Daryl Gene Foote; Grandchildren: Sterling Blood, Brittany (Grayson) Pollock, Parker Blood, Ashley Blood, Clayton Blood; Ciera (Hector) Salazar and Sean Downing; Great-grandchildren: Everett and Nora Pollock, and Kyzlee Salazar; Brother and Sister-in-Law: Ken and Mary Ann Little; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her Mother, Father, step-father William Carnahan, son-in-law Bruce Foote, and both former husbands.

A family viewing will be held Monday, August 14th, at 11am at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary in Sandy, UT. A brief graveside service will be held at noon in the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.

We wish to thank Dr. Grant Hawkins for the many years of tender and attentive care which he gave our mother, as well the kind care shown over the years by the staff at Alta View Hospital.
