William Earl Jones

1940 ~ 2016

William Earl Jones Jr., known to some as "Bill", known to many as "Spitty", and known to those who loved him the most as "Sweetheart", "Dad" and "Papa", was released from the burdens and pains of his earthly body in the early hours of March 30,2016.

Born April 13, 1940 to William Earl Sr. and Cora Whitaker Jones, he was the youngest of three. Bill was a journeyman plumber by trade, where he worked side-by-side with his father in the family business, Jones Plumbing and Heating for many years. He later became warehouse manager and eventually branch manager of Redwing Shoe Company in Salt Lake City, Utah where he made many friends in his 30+ years of service. Upon retiring, Bill was able to spend time woodworking in his shop where he made many beautiful gifts for his family and friends.

As an avid outdoorsman, he was a lover of golf, camping, fishing and hunting. He was a diehard baseball fan who loved to watch the Utes and Yankees play. In his younger years, he played fast-pitch softball and created many lasting friendships and enjoyed the camaraderie of his softball buddies throughout the years. Through his fast-pitch softball days, he met the love of his life Patricia "Patti" Kelly. They were married June 13, 1969 where together they raised their four wonderful children: Terri, Jeff, Darin (Rini), and Shane (Cyndee). It was through his children, who were his pride and joy, where he was blessed with 10 grandkids: Josh (Jen), Brandon (Emilie), Misty (Alan), Korie, Ryan (Ruben), Heather, Bailee, Alex, Kayden, and Cassie, and 7 great-grandkids. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Irene (Fred) and Lois (Peg), father-in-law Charles Kelly, mother-in-law Dawna Kelly, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He is survived by his wife, children, grandkids, great-grandkids, and many other friends and family whom he deeply loved.
