Donnette Elaine Huppman Burton

1942 ~ 2018

Donnette Elaine Huppman Burton, the most wonderful woman in every way, left this earthly life on April 16, 2018 at the age of 76. She was born in Salt Lake City on February 23, 1942 to Alma Joseph and Elaine Myrtle Enquist Huppman. She met her sweetheart and love of her life, Dean in September of 1960 when they went on a blind date to a 3D movie at the Capitol Theater. They married June 26, 1961 in the Salt Lake Temple and were married for 56 wonderful years.

Donnette had a deep passion for gardening and spent many hours under the sun beautifying her yard. Most of all she loved people, she tenderly cared for her 6 children, their spouses, 24 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and also nieces, nephews and cousins whom she treated as her own children. For 9 years she selflessly cared for her mother in her own home. She also welcomed foreign exchange students in her home and treated them as her own children also.

Her love for her LDS faith and for her Savior sustained her through life's challenges. She truly lived her religion, serving others came as naturally to Donnette as breathing. She served faithfully in multiple presidencies in the Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society organizations. She also loved serving the widows and widowers in her stake. She always welcomed and fed the missionaries in her home and developed many lifelong friendships this way. She had a great love for the Polynesian people and culture which she shared with her family, friends, and neighbors. Traveling to Dean's mission, New Zealand, fulfilled a lifetime dream.

She worked at Merit Medical for 20 years and truly loved her job and the friendships made there, retiring in 2010.

She is survived by her sweet husband Dean; sister Paulette Soren; children: Michelle Dickson (Steve), Paul Burton (Connie), Camille Shelley (Kevin), Clark Burton (Fatima), Dan Burton (Khristine), and Brooke Holt (Jeff); 24 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren with one on the way. Preceded in death by her father Alma Joseph Huppman, mother Elaine Myrtle Enquist, step-father Paul Barney Soren, and step-mother Wilma Rogene Smith.

We will miss her more than words can say, but we trust we will see her again, whole and happy.
