Charles A. Estes

1951 ~ 2016

Chuck Estes, 64, passed away suddenly on March 5, 2016 at his home in Salt Lake City. He was born October 11, 1951 in Long Beach, California to B.J. Spence and L. Estes. Chuck met the love of his life, Jane, and they married in Salt Lake City.

Chuck's background is in technical theatre. He worked with the Shakespearean Festival in Cedar City during his college days. After moving to Salt Lake City, Chuck worked with Ballet West, Utah Opera, Promised Valley Playhouse, Oasis Stage Werks (rock and roll tours) and numerous movie productions. He then started working at the University of Utah PBS Eccels Broadcast Station. During his term he helped install the state wide EDNET network for the schools. Chuck was honored with a great retirement party and retired December 31st 2015. Everyone knows Chuck loves Yellowstone National Park.

Chuck is survived by his wife JL Estes; brothers-in-law, John and Bruce Ballinger; sister-in-law Dr. Mary Evans, DVM; brother-in-law, Dan Evans; sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Larry Oleson; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Jane Spence; and brother Brent Estes.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, March 11th 2016 from 2pm to 4pm at the Eccles Broadcast Station, 101 South Wasatch Drive (1830 East) on the University of Utah Campus.
