Carol Mary Devey Pulley, our Mother, Aunt, Friend, Grams, Bubba, and the Russian Bear Woman passed peacefully from this world and into the arms of her Heavenly Father on May 27, 2019. Born on March 31, 1935 to Walter Boley Devey and Alvera Creer Devey, in American Fork, Utah. Preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Richard Devey and Creer Devey, andher sister Kathleen Lyons. We know there is a long awaited and joyful Devey Reunion taking place on the other side.
An accomplished pianist, she had a passion for music in all forms. Carol also loved art, literature, antiques, politics and current events, jewelry, and fashion. Her taste in clothes was impeccable, developed by her parents, in their fine clothing store, Devey\s of American Fork.
Carol was a voracious reader her entire life and had an encyclopedic understanding of the scriptures based upon her travels to the Middle East. An avid antique collector, she always had a twinkle in her eye when the antique shows were in town. This lady knew how to haggle.
Carol attended American Fork High School, and was a proud Caveman her entire life, attending and loving her class reunion this past August. Married Jerral R Pulley, Sr, later divorced. Together they had four children, Mary Alsop (Danny), Jerry Pulley, Jr (Teri), Keefe Pulley (Amber), and Steve Pulley (Jennifer). She has nine grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren, with two more on the way.
Carol lived abroad with her family in England and across the US. Settling for some time in her beloved Connecticut, making many friends along the way and throwing Christmas parties and church galas that were legendary.
When asked for a descriptive word that would remind them of Carol, the family members responded with: books, sassy, perfect skin, blue eyes, Diet Coke, popcorn, corn dogs, brass candlesticks, firecracker, charming, flirty, kind, bee charmer, spunky, \"apprecocious\", charismatic, chocoholic, bananas with canned cream, and ice cream in any form. Each of these words brought a smile to our faces as each was as unique and heartwarming remembrance of her wonderful spirit. There will never be anyone quite like Carol again.
Carol had a devout testimony of Jesus Christ and was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She held many Church callings such as RS President, seminary teacher, and Sunday school teacher. She was adored by her seminary students, and her flock of "Mother's Helpers,\" whom she would shepherd when they would come to the ward in Connecticut. Parents knew they could breathe easily when their daughters were in her care. She had a mischievous sense of humor and an undying devotion to her family. Carol will be remembered every time we light a brass candlestick.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Beehive Homes of Draper for their tender and loving care of her for the past year and a half. Many thanks to the staff of Encompass Hospice who served and loved both Carol and her family in her final days. We could not have done this without you.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Rd., (10600 S.), Sandy. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 3, 2019 at 11:00 am, with a viewing one hour prior to services at Cameo Park Ward LDS Chapel, 8945 South 1700 East, Sandy. Interment to follow services at American Fork Cemetery, 26 West 600 North, American Fork.
