Dr. Donald G. Stockman D.D.S.

1927 ~ 2013

Don was born on November 18, 1927 in Coalville Utah to Edgar Gail Stockman and Elizabeth Alice Robinson. He passed away at home peacefully in his sleep on July 22, 2013.

Don attended high school at North Summit High where he was the year book editor, Student Body President and was the Valedictorian of his graduating class. Don also played on the varsity basketball team during all four years of high school. After high school he served our country during WWII as a Private in the Army. Upon his return he attended BYU where he was a member of the Phi Eta Sigma Honorary Society and graduated with a B.A. degree in Music. He taught high school music at Hinckley and North Summit High Schools. He was selected to attend the University of Michigan Dental School where he received his D.D.S. degree and received the honors from both Omicron Kappa Upsilon-Honorary Dental and Phi Kappa Phi ‚ Honorary Society on the University of Michigan.

He practiced dentistry for almost 50 years in Salt Lake City and was a member of the Salt Lake District Dental Society, Utah and American Dental Associations, the Academy of General Dentistry and Pierre Fauchard Academy.

Don was a member of the LDS Church where he served in various callings such as a counselor in two Bishoprics, President of the Sunday School in every ward where he lived, Elders Quorum Presidency, High Priest Group Leadership, Choir Director, and he served a mission at the conference center for six years.

Don enjoyed all sports and was an avid fan of Brighton High School basketball and all BYU and Michigan athletics.

He is survived by his daughters Suzanne (Doug) Gull, Gail (Mark) Bown and Lynne Stockman. His wife Janell and her children Kyle (Linda) Peterson, Kreighan (Greg) Duffield and Kreg (Shelley) Peterson, 19 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Jean Stockman McGean.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 11:00 am at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East 10600 South Sandy, UT. A viewing will be held from 9 ‚ 10:45 am prior to services at the mortuary. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.Larkincares.com
