Mayre Beth Nielsen Stevens

1930 ~ 2014

Mayre Beth Nielsen Stevens, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on December 6, 2014 of cause incident to age. She was born October 11, 1930 in Hollywood, California, the daughter of Henry Day (Don) Nielsen and Mayre Josephine Naisbitt Nielsen. She graduated at the age of 20 from the University of Utah with a degree in Elementary Education. While attending the U of U, she met Donald L. Stevens and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 25, 1951. Together, they had six children. They were later divorced.

Mayre Beth was a lifelong and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a ward Relief Society President on two separate occasions and as a ward and stake Primary President. She served on the Primary General Board, just like her mother before her. She also was called to serve as an advisor to Lambda Delta Sigma sorority, a calling she thoroughly enjoyed. She devoted herself to Church service and had a close and personal relationship with our Savior, Jesus Christ. She expressed gratitude every day for His life.

Her favorite saying recently was \"Don\t get old. It\s the pits."

She is survived by her sister, Shanna Lee Nielsen Parmley, (Bill) and her children, Scott (Mindi), Pam Bedke (Doug), Bob (Debbie), John (Marci), Mayre Ann Frantz (Steve), and son Steve. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on December 13th at 10:30 AM at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary at 2350 East and 1300 South in Salt Lake City, UT. There will be a viewing Friday, December 12th from 6:00 ‚ 8:00 PM also at the Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary and before the funeral from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
