Myrna Sizemore Alvey passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 surrounded by her loving family at the Aspen Park Care Facility in Salt Lake City, UT. Myrna was born on August 18, 1934 to Lees Syme and Vera Ellen Christensen in Moroni, UT, the last of nine children.
The family moved to Salt Lake City in 1941 when her father found work at Kennecott Copper. She loved attending Sumner Elementary School, where she rarely missed a day. Her family later moved to Garfield, UT. She attended Cyprus High School in Magna, where she formed life-long friendships, including her future husband.
Myrna loved children, and had ample opportunities to babysit for her older brothers and sisters and neighbors, something she began at ten years of age. She loved traveling to stay with family across the state.
Myrna married Allen DeVar Sizemore on May 29, 1952 in Garfield. They were blessed with five children Larry Allen, Kenneth Lee, Myrna Christine, Vera Ellen, and John Devar. The family was sealed together for time and all eternity on February 5, 1969.
Myrna was a devoted wife and mother, and focused on raising her five children. After the family moved to Kearns, she worked at Univac, Litton, and as a receptionist for many years. She loved serving as a Primary worker, scout leader, visiting teacher, singing in choirs. She enjoyed traveling, trips to Wendover, and eating ice cream! More than anything else, she loved seeing her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She lost her husband Allen in 1999, but was blessed to meet Kenneth Alvey. They were married on August 19, 2001 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ken was a great blessing in her life, providing great comfort and care.
She was preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings, first husband Allen D. Sizemore, her oldest son Larry, and grandsons James and Shane.
Myrna is survived by her husband Kenneth Alvey and her children Kenneth (Barbara) Sizemore, Santa Clara, UT; Christine (Fred) Larsen, Kearns, UT; Vera (Scott) Jarvis, Kearns, UT; John (Reney) Sizemore, Washington City, UT; 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at 1pm in the Kearns Stake Center, 4260 W. 5215 South with viewings at the ward Friday 6-8pm and Sat. 11:30am to 12:45pm. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens. Online condolences at www.larkincares.com
