In Loving Memory of Daniel Call Butterfield

(1945-2024)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Daniel Call Butterfield, who returned peacefully to his father in heaven on Friday, March 8, 2024. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Daniel leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and cherished memories that will forever linger in the hearts of those who were privileged to know him.

Born on January 4, 1945, to Bertha Woolston and Orval K. Butterfield, Daniel's journey through life was marked by an unwavering commitment to family, faith, a deep love of animals, and a genuine appreciation for the simple joys of existence. Daniel was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and found immense joy in fulfilling his church assignments.

A lover of the outdoors, Daniel found solace and joy in nature. His favorite moments were spent in the company of his loyal dogs, Chloe, and KK, as they basked in the sunshine. His green thumb was obvious in the vibrant flowers and the thriving gardens that he cultivated. Daniel's positive outlook was evident anytime he was asked, “How are you?” and would cheerfully respond, "Good, it's going to be a nice day!”

Daniel attended East High School and later dedicated himself to a fulfilling career at the Utah Transit Authority, spending more than a decade as President of the Transit Union. Known for his strong work ethic and fair treatment of others, Daniel left an indelible mark on the lives of those he worked alongside.

On July 21, 1965, Daniel married his eternal companion, Linda Christine Trujillo. Together, they built a life centered around love, shared values, and a deep connection that transcends time. Their union blessed them with two children, Shawn Daniel Butterfield, and Karrie Kay Butterfield in addition to Daniel’s oldest daughter, Tammy Messer-Smith. Daniel was a loving grandfather to Mckale, Mitch, Zach, Brayden, and Lila, always showering them with affection and creating lasting memories.

Daniel Call Butterfield will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we bid farewell to a remarkable soul, let us celebrate his life, his love, and the countless moments that define him. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love that he so generously shared with his family and friends.
