David Alma Hale, Jr., beloved father, grandfather, son, uncle, and best friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 14, 2024. He was born in Burley, Idaho on August 16, 1950 to David Alma Hale, Sr. and Lillie Mae Pedersen Hale.

He grew up in Sugarhouse and graduated from South High in 1968. In his early years he was a terrific athlete and played various sports...baseball, football, and basketball. Later he would put that experience to work as a little league and high school football coach.

David had many wonderful friends and church leaders who made a profound difference in his life. He was always grateful for their positive influence. He served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Alaskan-Canadian Mission. Upon his return he continued his education at Utah State University.

His work took him to a variety of places. Early in his career, he worked for the European Health Spa with stops in Salt Lake City, UT; Seattle, WA; and Honolulu, HI. He then spent many years in Denver, CO running The Point Athletic Club. He came back to Utah to manage The Cliff Spa at Snowbird Ski Resort. The final part of his career was spent in places such as California City, CA; St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands, and finally in Hartsel, CO where as general manager at the Hartsel Springs Ranch & Resort, one of his responsibilities was overseeing a herd of buffalo. In 2015, he retired and moved back to Sandy, UT to care for his sweet mother and his sister.

The gospel of Jesus Christ meant everything to him and he studied its precepts diligently throughout his life. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in many capacities including Stake Sunday School President, Young Men's Advisor, Bishopric Member, and Sunday School Teacher.

David is survived by his sister, Debra; his four children; David III (Jalene), Lincoln (Anna), Nicholas (Riley), and Emily; and his seven grandchildren, Dawson, Everett, Lincoln II, Shiloh, Micah, Selah, and Zion. He is preceded in death by his mother and father and his daughter, Tricia Hale.

Funeral services will be held on January 19, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Utah Sandy Crescent Ridge Stake Center (1265 E. 11000 S., Sandy, UT). A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the same location. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens (1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd., Sandy UT), following the service.

Dear Debra and David's Family,
We are your backdoor neighbors. We're so sorry to hear of David's passing and we're unable to attend the services today (have the flu). He is a such a good man, such a great sense of humor, so kind and loving. It was fun to watch him interact with the youth of our ward when he taught them in Sunday School a few years ago. Those kids loved him, loved the way he cared about them, and loved the way he taught. We send our condolences. He was always so fun to be around. He will be dearly missed.
