David Brusnahan Thomas

1943 ~ 2023

David Brusnahan Thomas, 79, of West Valley City, Utah. "I returned home to my Father in Heaven on June 6, 2023. I was born in Coalville Summit County, Utah on July 21, 1943 to Wayne Derral Thomas and Margaret Rebecca Brusnahan Thomas. I grew up in Peoa and went to school in Kamas. I met and married Sue Ann Litster on June 27, 1973. We were sealed five years later in the Manti Temple on October 21, 1978. I was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served an honorable mission to the Great Lakes, which I enjoyed very much. I have always had a strong testimony of the gospel of The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints. I have a great love of music, particularly Classical, Opera and Irish. Listening to The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square, really made me feel at peace. The most rewarding work I ever did, was working with people with disabilities.

At a very young age, I had a deep love and respect for the land and the people of Ireland. I am extremely proud of my Irish heritage.

I am survived by my sweet wife Sue Ann of 50 years, my beautiful twin daughters from a previous marriage. Andrea Thomas and Angela Mouritsen (David) and my sons, Scott and Matthew. I have nine grand children and ten great grand children. I am also survived by three brothers Patrick (Rose Ann) Thomas, Wayne (Melonie) Thomas and Sean Thomas (Ross) and many nieces and nephews.

I am preceded in death by my parents, my daughter Tralee Carrie, two sisters Kathleen and Sharon, one grandson Rowan Thomas and one niece.

I've given a lot of thought about my funeral due to an experience I had in the hospital years ago. I am well aware and truly understand how quickly life can leave the body. I am not afraid to die. In fact, I have been looking forward to this day."

A visitation will be held at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, Monday June 19, 2023 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. There will be another viewing on Tuesday June 20, 2023 at 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm with the funeral following at 2:00 pm.
Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary located at 2350 East 1300 South (about one and one-half blocks east of Foothill Blvd.)

Dad, I have known you all my life and it saddens me to see you move onto other things after being here for so many years. You are going to be sorely missed. Thank you for all the good times we had together like camping, vacations, and BBQ's up in Little Cottonwood Canyon. We had some really fun times traveling all over the place in the summers. I am so sorry that you are having to bear the grief of losing your soul mate. The next weeks and months will be difficult and you should freely lean on friends and family to help. Your life will never be the same, but you will carry on, step by step. And down the road, you will look back and be proud of how you've managed without him. And David will be proud of you, too.
