So sorry to hear about Daves passing. I have great memories of him, almost like a second dad, growing up. He was a great man and the world is lesser for his passing.
In Loving Memory
1937•2026
David Lynn Harrison passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026. Born on Easter Sunday, March 28, 1937, in Salt Lake City, UT, he was the younger of two boys to Benjamin Slight Robson Harrison Jr. and Gladys Worthen Harrison.
He spent his early years in the heart of Sugarhouse, attending Hawthorne Elementary, Irving Junior High, and South High School, before answering the call to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the West Central States. He often joked that while his friends were jetting across the globe for their missions, he climbed aboard a Greyhound Bus bound for Billings, Montana. His mission became a formative chapter of his life, and he served under President Casper Merrill, the original owner of Fat Boy Ice Cream Sandwiches. For the rest of his life, Dave would honor his mission president in the most reasonable way he knew how, by eating a Fat Boy or ice cream bar every night after dinner.
A proud University of Utah graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and an advanced certificate from Purdue University, Dave built a career that suited him perfectly. His natural charisma led him into sales, where he sold mutual funds and life insurance. He was a Chartered Life Underwriter and Certified Financial Planner, working for Surety Life, CFS, and eventually ending his career with entrepreneurial ventures, including his own Harrison Financial Services.
He began dating his wife, Charlotte (Charee) Richards, after spotting her at a singles ward, following whom he diplomatically described as “a girl with nice legs”- only to find that when she turned around, he was face-to-face with a woman he already knew. He had previously dated one of her closest friends, a detail he was teased about for years. With the friend's blessing, he began courting Charee. One night, a few months in, he asked her if she knew how many times he had almost proposed. The next day, he showed up with a ring to make sure she’d never have to wonder again. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple and spent 52 happy years together.
Dave lived well; he could often be found on the ski slopes, the golf course, swimming, traveling, or behind the wheel of a fun and fast car. He loved architecture and appreciated good design, often taking his family on tours of properties while on vacation. He enjoyed bargain hunting and had a charming habit of leaving the price tag on presents so that everyone in the room could fully appreciate the deal he found.
Dave served in several bishoprics, high councils, and stake presidencies. He had many friends and was known for his infectious smile and kindness to all. He loved his family and taught them the value of hard work, the discipline of saving early and often, and the importance of empathy for others.
Dave is survived by his wife, Charlotte; children, Todd (Ana), Jeff (Karrie), Dan, Cindee (Scott); nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Paul Harrison.
Thank you to Canyon Home Care and Hospice and The Ridge Senior Living for the wonderful and compassionate care he received.
Viewing services will be held Saturday, May 16, from 10:00-11:40, and funeral services will be held from 12:00-1:00 p.m., at the LDS Stake Center, 1320 Wasatch Drive in Salt Lake City.

Dear Harrison family. Brad and I were so saddened to hear about Dave’s passing. He was always so kind to our family and especially our son Oli. Oli, Jeff and Dan were good friends growing up. We appreciate the Harrison’s welcoming Oli into their home and loving him. May you all find peace in Dave’s passing and know we are thinking of you all. Jane and Brad Mullen
So many wonderful memories of my childhood were spent at your home, whether it was at Christmas, or during the summer at the best pool/BBQ parties ever! I always loved playing the piano on your beautiful baby grand, and David’s favorite: Ice Castles theme for him.
Sending much love and comfort at this time. Keep hold of the many precious memories. Love you all!
A few kind words can mean a great deal to the family in the days ahead.
