Deborah "Debbie" Evans

It is with love that we mourn the passing of Deborah Lynne Evans, who was called home on Sunday, September 5, 2021. Deborah “Debbie” Evans was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and we’re happy that she no longer endures the physical limitations she had during her last years on earth.

Debbie is survived and will be remembered by her brother Steven (Diane) Wyrick; her sons, Jeff (Tanya) Forsyth, and Steve (Kris) Forsyth; her stepchildren, Linda (Lynn) Diamond, and Vicky Fitzgerald, along with 12 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. Debbie is preceded in death by her eternal companion Kelvin Earl Evans, her sister Marian, and her brothers, Phillip and Alvin.

Debbie was born in Ocala, Florida to Ralph Phillip Wyrick and Ida Ava Stephens Wyrick. The family moved to Knoxville, Tennessee when Debbie was a baby. She had five siblings and enjoyed telling stories of some of the trouble they would get into (her siblings that is... never Debbie). She graduated from Central High School in 1957 and attended Carson-Newman College. When her father was in need of an operation, Debbie made the choice to leave school for full time employment in 1959. That choice led her to becoming a stewardess with American Airlines.

In 1961 Debbie married James R. Forsyth in San Antonio, Texas, eventually leaving her career to raise their two boys. They later divorced and Debbie began a new journey as a single parent and a new career as a travel agent.

On April 23rd 1975, Debbie married her sweetheart Kelvin “Kelly” Evans. They moved from Texas to Salt Lake City, Utah in June of 1978. Debbie and Kelly loved traveling, the theater, dancing (especially square dancing), and spending time with family and friends. Debbie was also a talented artist and found her love of painting in water colors. She would light up a room when she walked in and her laugh was contagious. She had a house full of stuffed animals because she “was just a big kid” so she would say. She loved to feed her koi and sprinkle bird seed around the yard.

Debbie was a convert and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which led to positions of service in the church where she found her love for helping others. Her compassion for others and love of counselling led her to return to school to finish her degree. She received a double bachelor's degree in Personal Communications and Psychology from the University of Utah in 1985. Something she was very proud of...Go UTES!

Debbie moved on to a career with Allstate Insurance where she was a bodily injury claims adjuster. She thoroughly enjoyed working with her Allstate family and very much enjoyed the challenges it presented.

Debbie had been a resident at The Wellington since 2012, and enjoyed socializing with the other residents and participating in daily activities. She could usually be found enjoying the evening movie in the great room.

We would like to share a heartfelt Thank You with all those at The Wellington, and also Home Instead Personal Care, for helping us take such great care of ‘mom’ over the last several years.

She will be missed and forever in our hearts.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Larkin Sunset Gardens, located at 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) in Sandy, UT.
Repast immediately following the service at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 4366 South 1500 East, Millcreek, UT 84124 on the North side of the building. There will be both indoor and outdoor seating.
