Debra Jean Smith Livingston

1951 ~ 2024

Our beloved Debra Jean Smith Livingston passed away January 27, 2024, at the age of 72 under the loving care of her family in Salt Lake City, Utah. Debbi was born to Russel Lynn and Lois Robb Smith on July 5, 1951, in Salt Lake City, Utah. While growing up she loved spending time with her 3 brothers, aunts, uncles and cousins on the family farm in Duchesne, Utah. She was raised in Sugarhouse, graduated from Highland High School in 1969, and graduated from Steven's Henager Business College.

Debbi and Roger Alan Livingston were married on August 26, 1971, in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised five children and love doting on their 13 grandchildren. Debbi loved spending time with her children in classrooms, on field trips, teaching music and as PTA president. She loved music and singing and enjoyed being part of the A'Cappella choir at Highland High School. She taught her children to love music; nothing brought her greater joy than watching her children and grandchildren perform be it singing, dancing, sports or theater.

Once her children were raised and she had a little more time she was part of the Mountain Jubilee women's barbershop choir, performing and competing around the United States. She even found time to be in a couple community theater productions and loved getting to share the stage with her family.

Debbi and Roger have lived in the East Millcreek area for over 44 years and have many precious memories and friends. Debbi loved serving in the Primary and Young Women's organizations and as Relief Society President where she developed a great love for all the sisters in the ward. She cherished her time serving an inner-city mission with Roger and had a special love and bond with those she served. She never doubted the truthfulness of the Gospel and her faith is one her gifts and the greatest legacy to leave her family.

Debbi is survived by husband Roger, children Amy Lyn Livingston, Melisa Ayn Omer (Ryan Craig), Kimberly Jean Christensen (Andrew Michael), Cameron Alan Livingston (Bethany Lynne), her 13 grandchildren Lindsay Jean Omer, Joshua Ryan Omer, Emily Jane Omer, Morgan Ayn Omer, Hadley Grace Omer, Tanner Michael Christensen, Cannon Roger Christensen, Maxwell Andrew Christensen, Henry Davis Christensen, Holland Elle Christensen, Penrose Jean Christensen, Zackary Tyler Livingston, Jordan Bea Livingston, and her siblings Howard Smith, Cory Smith, and Terry Smith. She is preceded in death by her son Tyler Roger Livingston and her parents.

A viewing will be held on Thursday February 1, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Friday February 2, 2024, from 10:30-11:45 am. at the East Millcreek 9th Ward building 3750 S Hillside Lane, Salt Lake City, UT Funeral Services will be on Friday, February 2, 2024, at 12:00 pm at the same location.

Roger and Family,

We know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their life and love.

Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we feel about Debra's passing.

Our thoughts are with you always,
Love,

Rick & Marilyn Sutter

On my list of things I’m grateful for near the top is witnessing the great love that Roger and Debbi shared. The joy they found in the gospel, and in their children and grandchildren was so fun. And these last years, the patients, the kindness, the hope that Roger showed. so grateful for Amy and everyone who made so many sacrifices to lovingly care for Debi after her lifetime of serving and loving others. I have watched a lot of funerals, but that had to be the most beautiful ever for Debi to be able to look down and see the love she had of the savior embodied in each of her kids and grandkids. The love that your guys are showing for each other and for the Lord is so awesome thank you so much for being such a wonderful family. I’m so grateful that, I had aunt Debbi as a cheerleader to Love and encourage me and what discipleship is all about. Love you guys and what a glorious reunion it will one day be. 🩷🩷🩷🩷

Dear Livingston Family,
I knew your mother at Highland High School. She was so sweet and I am sorry for your loss. I would have loved to attended her funeral, but I did listen to it on Zoom and it was so touching. She was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother. I know her legacy will live on through you, her children and grandchildren. I know Heavenly Father welcomed her home with open arms.
Love, a friend from Pennsylvania.

Oh Amy and Kimi!!!!!! And ALL the rest of you….Tanner, Max…I remember you SO WELL and love you through all eternity. I am sooooo sorry you and the rest of your family have lost your angel mother and grandmother from this side of the veil. I am SO GRATEFUL I got to know her and to be her friend; that she was MY dear friend too ❤️. We had many conversations about how much we love you ALL! I am SO grateful for our wonderful Gospel! Though she is no longer right here, how wonderful that we know where she is, and I think she i’s still VERY aware of you, loving you now more than ever because her capacity to love has grown. May you be comforted with your sweet memories.

Just learned about Debra's passing, Been many years since I crossed path with her (1968 or so), Spent some time at her house while my friend Jim FIsher was "attempting" to date her, but she never really let him!! I have many good memories of Debra, smart, just enough "sass" to be fun, while being a good friend.
