Deloris Dorene Peterson Fowler "Dee"

1933 ~ 2023

Deloris Dorene Peterson Fowler (Dee) passed away peacefully at the age of 90 after being serenaded with a sing-along by family members.

Born to Myrtle Nelscene Brown and Van Carl Petersen on June 21, 1933, in Salt Lake City. Dee was raised in Magna, Utah.

Fun fact – Dee did drum and bugle corps in high school. After Dee graduated from high school, she started her working career as a bank teller and later a secretary at Hercules, where she worked until she retired. During her career, she participated in her work choir and developed long-term friendships and some pretty good stories that would rival any daytime soap opera.

Dee had an amazing sense of humor! Dee was dedicated to family which was evident in her role as a loving mother to her two sons and caring stepmother to five step-daughters. She had great tidbits of advice, and all of her children and grandchildren will remember these treasured trinkets of knowledge forever. The love for her children was never more evident than in the pain she experienced in the loss of her son at a young age. Dee was an amazing Grandmother to her 12 grandchildren all of who fondly remember dinners, movies, and sleepovers. Her commitment to family was evident in Sunday dinners, game nights, and holidays.

Dee’s life was best characterized by her love and fierce devotion to her husband of almost 50 years, Robert Fowler. From late-night dancing (and they were fabulous dancers), spontaneous and frequent cook-out dinners in little cottonwood canyon, simple evening strolls, University of Utah football games, traveling (especially to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico), spontaneous Sunday drives, and working together in the yard to create flower beds that were remarkable. Their life together was magical.

Dee is survived by her husband Robert Fowler, Taylorsville; son Russell Peterson, New York City; five stepdaughters, Paula (Charls) Fowler-Paurley, Kalispell, MT; Barabra (Mike) Fowler Johnson, Union, KY; Stacey Montalvo, Midvale; Stephanie Hoggan, Holladay; Blythe (Dan) Fowler-Ball, Pecos, NM; 12 grandchildren, Amiee Palmatier, Robert Palmatier, John (Jen) Hicks, Michael Hicks, Teresa (Justina) Martinez, Ben Holt, Wesley Fowler-Johnson, Tilynn Montalvo, Shawntell Montalvo, Chrissy (Dalton) Halverson, Alexis Hoggan, Markie Hoggan; 12 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her son, Steven Cloyd Peterson, brother, William Dewaine Petersen, mother, Myrtle Petersen, and father Van Petersen.

Graveside Funeral services will be held on July 25, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 South, Sandy Utah.

A special thanks to Meg and the caring staff at Auburn Crest.

It is never easy to say goodbye. A void will be left. Mom and Grandma – we will miss you terribly and will remember you always.
