Dermont LaMar West

Dermont Lamar West, a man of tireless work ethic, ingenuity, and a generous spirit, passed away on January 9, 2026. Born on June 5, 1936, in Eureka, Nevada, to John (Jack) West and Lillian Mary Jurey West, Dermont lived a life defined by the belief that anything broken could be fixed and any challenge could be overcome with grit and determination.

Dermont was a devoted and actively involved father to four children and three stepchildren, and he provided paternal support and strong guidance to his nephews. 
 A true problem solver, he was always the first to step up and pitch in whenever a helping hand was needed. He is survived by a family who will forever cherish the lessons of hard work and the love of the outdoors he shared with them.

Dermont was preceded in death by his partner Rva Harkness, his parents Jack and Lillian, sister Cleon, Brother Verneil, daughter Debra, and stepson Rich. He is survived by children Ken, Randy, Marci, and younger brother Jon. 2 stepdaughters, Lynn and Jill, and sister-in-law Pinky.

And a multitude of grand- and great-grandchildren.

It is with much gratitude that we acknowledge and thank all family, friends and neighbors who helped sustain him.

He will be interred and eulogized at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery, 1950 E Dimple Dell Road (10600 S) in Sandy, on Jan. 23, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
