Dewey Voy Taylor

Dewey Voy Taylor was born January 31, 1933 in Fremont, Utah to Dewey Brian and Matilda Sorensen Taylor. He passed quietly at his home with loved ones near on January 31, 2024. He got to spend his 91st birthday in heaven with his sweetheart.

He married the love of his life, Vivian Peterson, on August 20, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were devoted to each other for over 70 years. They were blessed with seven children. VeeAnn (Mitchell) Pace, Rodney (Tracy) Taylor, Boyd (Janet) Taylor, Sabrina (Randy) Erickson, Tina Yee, Dwight (Marci) Taylor and Gina (Don) Anderson. They have 28 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren and 8 great, great grandchildren.

He was brought up in a strong family environment and had a great love for his siblings. Bud E. Taylor (deceased), Roe E. Taylor and Lowell J. Taylor.

Voy was raised on a farm so there was always plenty of work to do. He learned the value of work at a young age and maintained that incredible work ethic his entire life. Even with all the work to do on the farm, he made time for sports and was an amazing athlete. He played baseball and basketball on the high school team and took state in the javelin throw. He carried that love of sports his whole life and enjoyed doing sporting activities with his family.

He was an avid gardener and always had a beautiful, productive garden. He shared that love of gardening with his children. He was still tending his garden at 90 years old.

Voy's priority in life was loving and serving his wife and family. He worked two jobs to support his family, and still always made sure to spend quality time with his children. He gave his children unconditional love and was a constant support. After retirement he built sheds and finished basements for his children. If there was a project to work on he was there helping. Even at 85 years old he was helping to remove flooring tile for a kitchen remodel. He also spent many hours tending and loving his grandchildren. There was never a doubt they were loved by him.

He had a strong testimony of his Savior, Jesus Christ and His gospel. Living the gospel principles he believed in was a priority for him. He actively served in Church callings and exemplified many Christlike attributes. He truly taught by example.

Voy's world revolved around his sweetheart Vivian. We will miss him every day, but find comfort and joy knowing that they are reunited.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Hillview Meeting House (1361 East 4000 South, Salt Lake City). A viewing to be held from 10:30 - 11:15 am prior to the services at 11:30 am. Interment will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens located at 1950 E. Dimple Dell Road in Sandy.
