Dona (Donna) Brinton Buckmiller

1925 ~ 2022

The much loved and admired by her family, Donna (Dona) Brinton Buckmiller, was born in Salt Lake City, to Donald Guy Brinton and Alta Myrle Allen Brinton, January 15, 1925, and passed away at her home, October 20, 2022, in Salt Lake City. She was 97 years old. Her parents, her three sisters, her husband, and her sons-in-law preceded her in death. She married Robert (Buck) Carl Buckmiller, son of Carl Henry Buckmiller and Laverne Plant, July 3, 1945, in the Logan Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They have two daughters, Karla Buckmiller (Richard Creighton) Giberson and Kathy Buckmiller (Irving Fancher III, “Totch”) Upshaw. Without including spouses (though Donna always did) she has eight grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren.

During her childhood Donna lived in SLC until the family moved to Helena, Montana, where she lived until she married. The newly wedded couple then lived briefly in Miami, Florida, where “Buck” was stationed during his service in the US Navy. After the war they lived in Salt Lake City where their young daughters were added to the family. They moved to Great Falls, Montana, and then Amarillo, Texas, where they enjoyed life for 16 years until returning to SLC.

Donna was a favorite aunt, an admired friend, was amazingly generous, loved to read, had an enormous amount of common sense, a subtle wit, and a lot of wisdom. We all loved our times with her and treasure the stories from her childhood that kept us laughing and loving our visits to her lovely home and are overwhelmed with gratitude toward her caregiver for making that possible. Most of all, she loved her sweetheart, Buck, and her family.
