Donald (Dante’) Thomas

It is time to say “Goodbye “to our amazing “Papa Don” who passed away peacefully in his home with his family by his side. Don was born in Salt Lake City to Donald Blaine Thomas and Ethel Evon Petersen Thomas. He married Patricia Ann Johnson Walker on March 5, 1962. Together they had 5 remarkable children, Shon, who preceded him in death in February 2022, Kimberly Huber (Peter), Daron, Shelly Schmidt (Robert), and Patti. He had several grandchildren and great grandchildren who gave him a lifetime of love and happiness. We have lost a remarkable husband, father, grandfather, and good friend to many.

He was full of life, with an infectious sense of humor that he passed on to his family. He was an entrepreneur of many businesses and ventures, the largest and the one that he was most proud of is Salon Dante’ & Day Spa, that he and his wife Pat began in 1962. Don lived large and had many hobbies, including getting his pilot’s license and owning a small airplane. He was always helping his family with many projects.
He loved hunting, fishing, boating, jeeping, riding dirt bikes, water and snow skiing, riding horses, golf, golf, and more golf. He mostly loved traveling in his motorhome with his family and seeing the country, Mexico and Canada. His goal in life was to make sure that his family would always be taken care of.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm on Monday, February 20. 2023 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy, UT. A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:45 pm prior to the graveside services.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in Don’s name.

What an amazing picture of Don, one picture really says it all. Please let your entire family know how much we are all thinking about you. I just remember what a stubborn, smart ass he could be and I only mean that in a loving way.
