Obituary Photo for Donald Wesley Gordon < >

Donald Wesley Gordon, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on March 3, 2023. He was surrounded by his loved ones after a courageous eight-month battle with stage four metastatic lung cancer.

Wesley was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Foster Bert Gordon and Alice Pugh on October 8th, 1946. Wesley was the youngest of seven children. His siblings that preceded him in death are Sarah Byron, Alice Joanne Ragsdale, Marie Donna Staten, Carrol Adelle Staten, and Lynn Gordon. His surviving sibling is Judy Simon.

Wesley enlisted in the marines on October 19, 1964, to serve and protect his country. He served two valiant and courageous tours in the Vietnam war. He was honorably discharged and awarded the purple heart after being wounded in battle.

Wesley Gordon married Linda Joy Oliver on September 6th, 1968. They were married for 54 wonderful years, filled with laughter and joy. Wes and Linda later had three daughters Cindy (Tobias) Orton, Leslie (Jason) Anderson, and Sarah (Michael) Marshall. In total Wesley had eleven grandchildren: Tiffany Pierce, Wesley Orton, Skyler Orton, Tanner Orton, Krysta Orton, Ashlynn Basset, Bryson Anderson, Courtney Enniss, Amie Marshall, Caitlyn Marshall, and MaKayla Marshall. He also had fourteen great-grandchildren.

Wesley enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, going to Lava and Downata hot springs, and having many other fun adventures with his family.

There are not enough words to say how much Wesley changed this world for the better. Most importantly, he always found a way to create joy and make others laugh. He greatly impacted many people's lives for the better, especially his family's. Wesley Gordon will always be in our hearts until we meet again.

A viewing will be held Saturday March 11, 2023 from 1:30-3:00 p.m at Larkin Sunset Gardens, located at 1950 E Dimple Dell Road, Sandy, Utah. A cryptside service will follow the viewing at 3:00 p.m where military honors will be rendered by the United States Marines and American Legion.

First I'd like to say thank you to this wonderful family of 37 1/2 years.
To my sister's Sarah & cindy, I'm so grateful for having you in my life, I don't think there's anything I can say other than I'm sorry for your loss, if you ever need me I'm there, your dad was something special, he was my mentor and friend, in the last eight months with him we talked about so many things, things we wanted to talk to each other about but never did till now, I'm going to miss dad dearly, to stay strong during his time here with him was extremely hard for me, I can only imagine how you feel, but I lost a father as well so I can relate, this family means a lot to me, I just hope we never grow apart or become enemies, I've never had a family like this as you already know, this family saved me 37 1/2 yrs ago more than you know,
I love you guy's and promise to be here to help with mom as much as I can, love jason

Though I always called you uncle Wesley you were more like a dad to me, you were always my favorite uncle. You always seem so mild mannered and even tempered, I never seen you get mad. I chose to live with you and Aunt Linda and the girls because I felt so comfortable with y’all. I’m going to miss you so much and I’m so sorry I didn’t get down to see you sooner, Love you Uncle Wesley,
I hope you can join your siblings and your parents and all be together

- Laura (Byron) Osborne
