In Loving Memory of
Donna Marie Donovan
January 1, 1947 – January 30, 2026
With grateful hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of our beloved Marie Donovan—wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother—who passed peacefully on January 30, 2026, at Ashford Memory Care in Draper, Utah.
Known to family and friends simply as Marie, and affectionately as “the Dancing Queen,” she lived a life centered on faith, family, and quiet service. Her home was a place of love, stability, and devotion to Jesus Christ. Her kindness, patience, and enduring faith blessed all who knew her.
Marie was surrounded in her final days by her devoted husband, her children, and every one of her siblings—a true testament to the love she inspired. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate CNAs and staff at Ashford Memory Care and to the devoted hospice team at Renew Health for their tender care and kindness.
Marie met the love of her life, Gerald Owen Donovan, at a dance while attending Brigham Young University. They were married in the Salt Lake City Temple on June 10, 1966, for time and all eternity. This coming June would have marked 60 years of marriage—an enduring love story. Her children lovingly say she “graduated from this life with honors.”
After raising her family, Marie fulfilled a lifelong dream by earning her bachelor’s degree in communications from Westminster College in 2000, reflecting her determination and love of learning.
Her greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Gerald; her children Troy (Christine), Jason (Terry), and Amy (Shawn); three brothers and three sisters; six grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren, with a thirteenth eagerly awaited.
Marie will be remembered for her gentle heart, steady devotion, joyful spirit, and unwavering love.
We rejoice in the sure knowledge of the Resurrection through Jesus Christ. Her passing is not goodbye, but a loving “until we meet again.” Families are forever.

Marie was such a special girl. Four of us spent a lot of time together during our high school years. It was Marie, Jackie and Sylvia together. I can still hear her laugh.
I will always be grateful for her example and testimony.
Happy graduation Marie❤️
Love, LeeAnn
We were able to watch the services for Dear Marie. It brought back so many special memories of our special cousin. We named our 2nd daughter after her because I love Marie so much. She was a great influence in my life. Teaching my sister Sharon and I how to dance to early Rock and Roll was a high light in my life. She babysat us back then and we loved being with her. She has many of the same endearing qualities of my mother and her aunt, Ailene. I am thankful for her great example. Priceless to know she and my Mom and Dad (who love her so much) and her dear parents, our grandparents and so many beloved others are back together again . Isn't our Savior wonderful for instituting Fathers "Plan of Salvation" in our behalf. We send our love to Jerry and the family. Marie will have a wonderful fun home on high waiting for you all.
