Doris Darlene Mollerup

Doris Darlene Davis Mollerup passed away early June 10, 2023 due to causes incident to age. She was born March 29, 1942 to Earl and Bess Davis. She was the middle child of three children, with an older brother Tom and younger brother Bob. She grew up on the west side of Salt Lake City having descended from rich Mormon pioneer heritage.

Darlene graduated from West High School where she was a member of the Pep Club. She met her eternal companion Bill Mollerup on the front steps of the school. They married April 13, 1960 and established a foundation of love, security and spirituality on which to build their family. Six children arrived in the ensuing years, Jeff, Natalie, Tamra, Mark, Jill and Mike. Mom’s calling and profession was to be a mother, and an awesome mother she was! She devoted her time, energy and talents into being the best mother she knew how. All of us have fond memories of incredible birthday parties, creative halloween costumes, amazing Christmases and memorable vacations. Her children were her life and she was involved in all aspects of their lives. She served as PTA President, helping with their education.

Darlene was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she held many callings and leadership positions. She had a strong faith in God, Jesus Christ and teachings of the gospel. Over the years she has served as President of the Relief Society, Primary, Young Women and Stake Young Women organizations among other callings. She was an excellent teacher wherever she served. She especially loved being with the youth where her creative lessons are still remembered to this day. Most importantly she made God the cornerstone of her family and instilled a love for the gospel in her children.

Mom had a vivacious personality and would spontaneously dance whenever a song with a great beat came on the radio. She had a lovely voice and could regularly be heard singing hymns around the house as she cleaned. She harmonized beautifully especially with her brother Tom. They would sing on special occasions and were asked to sing at many a relative’s funeral. She loved ice cream, potato chips, and Dr. Pepper! Dad was always proud to take her out as she was immaculately dressed for every occasion. “She looks like a million bucks!”, he would say. She served her family with love, great meals and self-sacrifice. She made our home a place to be proud of, with a house that was always impeccably clean and tastefully decorated.

Darlene is survived by Bill, her dear husband of 63 years, her children, Jeff, Natalie, Tamra (Brandon), Mark, Jill (Paul), and Mike (Angie). She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Whitmore Ward, 6890 Whitmore Way, Cottonwood Heights, UT. A viewing will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 S.), Sandy, UT on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A short viewing will also be held from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church.
