Dorothy A Dal Soglio

1925 ~ 2023

On December 13, 2023, Dorothy Arlene (Huff) Dal Soglio loving wife, mother, grandmother, and GG, left this earth to rejoin her sweetheart. She peacefully passed away after a short decline in health.

She was born in Roberts, Idaho on November 27, 1925, to parents Bertha and Henry Huff. She grew up on a farm in Rupert, Idaho. She was the only daughter of four children and remained close with her brothers all their lives. She lived through the great depression and World War II. She helped in the home and on the farm and worked at JC Penny after high school.

She met the love of her life and although dad had to be tenacious, he won her heart, and they married on June 5, 1949. They moved to Albany, Oregon where they lived and raised their sons and she later drove the school bus. In 1973, the family moved back to Idaho, and then in 1978 to West Jordan, Utah. In Utah the family business expanded, and mom worked there until her seventies. They passed the reins on so they could travel and enjoy life after retirement.

Mom had a genuine love of people, and the community of people in the fuel industry admired and respected her. She enjoyed watching her sons Steven and Douglas raise their own families, and enjoyed traveling to wherever Doug and Christine were stationed in the Air Force. Mom was not a fan of flying and it took a great deal of coaxing to get her to fly; but they took trips to London, Spain, Portugal, Guam, Florida, and winter trips to California.

Mom could make a friend anywhere within minutes. She had a keen sense of hospitality and a gift for drawing people out, learning all about them, and having wonderful conversations because she was genuinely interested in their lives. She kept her address book close to her and called her loved ones on a regular basis. With a sharp mind and keen wit, she never lost an opportunity to introduce her family to someone new.
Mom remained in their home in South Jordan until 2016 then moved to Alta Ridge Assisted Living, where she lived the last seven years. Mom made friends quickly, she loved playing Bingo every day, and developed quite a competition with several of the residents. She was an inspiration with her walking up and down the halls in her effort to stay mobile and strong. We called her the energizer bunny because every time we thought she had endured enough she would bounce back. She was determined to be here to meet her first great-grandchild (Hazel). She would light up when Hazel toddled into her room and loved when she would sit by her and “read” stories to her GG. Mom and dad were always such a presence in the lives of their grandchildren. They were at every event possible to show their love and support. Mom loved her family and found them to be her greatest gift and blessing.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Richard. Also, her parents Bertha and Henry Huff, her brothers Russel (Ruby), Stanley (Joyce), and Bill (Karen) Huff. She is survived by her sweet sister-in-law (whom she always called her sister) Joyce Huff, her two sons Steven (Cindy) and Douglas (Christine) Dal Soglio. Also, grandchildren that she adored Stephanie Dal Soglio, Jenni (Taylor) Clark, BriAnna, Anthony, and Daniel Dal Soglio, and one great granddaughter Hazel Clark.

She left a legacy of love, admiration and respect. We miss her warm smile and hugs, her sly humor and her laugh. We will also miss her scolding and her finger shake when she felt she did not have your full attention. Our love for her will shine in the eyes of her family. She will be treasured for a lifetime.

We want to especially thank the caregivers at Alta Ridge Assisted Living and Active Home Health of Sandy, Utah for the seven plus years of care, compassion and friendship. They made her life richer every day.
