Dorothy Ann Webster passed November 11, 2023 due to complications of a stroke. Born March 13, 1936 in Murray Utah to Lyle Douglas and Ann Eloise Dowding Webster. She was the oldest daughter joining two older brothers, Jack and Bob.

She grew up in Midvale, attending Midvale Elementary, Midvale Jr. High and graduated from Jordan High School in 1955. She was proud to be a Jordan Beetdigger. In 1979 she moved to South Jordan. Dorothy worked as a beautician owning her own shop located on State Street in Midvale for many years. She enjoyed the friendship of her clients. She would often pick them up from their homes and bring them to her shop. It lifted their spirits to be able to get out and have their hair done. In 1993 Dorothy fell off a stool breaking her leg, forcing her into retirement, which was quite an adjustment for her. On the bright side, she became the auntie-sitter for her two nieces, Amberlynne and Sonia. She loved the role of being involved with the girls.

Dorothy loved her cats! No doubt she was greeted by many furry felines that she loved. Christmas was Dorothy’s favorite holiday. She loved to decorate the tree with her collection of Hallmark ornaments. She would take the catalog and choose ornaments for family members. We all have quite the collection! Before the arthritis affected her hands, she would do embroidery work and latch hook rugs. One year, she and Mom completed eight latch hook Christmas tree skirts to be given as Christmas gifts to her siblings. Dorothy loved doing puzzles and each January would set up several jigsaw puzzles and would work on them throughout the winter. The Jazz games and Hallmark movies were a favorite of hers.

Dorothy served in the Jr. Primary for many years in the Midvale 4th Ward. She loved those little ones and was so proud when they gained the confidence to give a talk or pray by themselves. Dorothy supported her family in everything! She always was proud of the accomplishments of nieces and nephews and liked to brag about them.

She loved to work outside in the yard and it looked great when she was in charge. Her favorite flowers were purple pansies. She enjoyed cooking and her specialties were making chocolate cake with white fluffy frosting, blonde brownies, homemade chicken noodle soup and her other specialty spice cake. Dinner was fixed every night with great care!

She is preceded in death by parents, Lyle Douglas and Ann Eloise, her brothers Jack, Bob and Jerry and sister Jane; sisters-in-law Ila, Beth, Vickie, Lois and Jeanette; brothers-in-law Bruce and Verl. Dorothy is survived by siblings Lee, Donna and Mary along with many nieces and nephews and great-great-great nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held Friday, November 17, 2023 at 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the LDS Relief Society Room on 9750 South 2200 West in South Jordan, Utah. Open-Mic Memories about Dorothy will be from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. After the services, the graveside interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens at 1950 East 10600 South in Sandy, Utah. In the lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice or your local animal shelter.

The family would like to thank the South Jordan paramedics and the staff at the Jordan Valley Medical Center that took such excellent care of her. Thanks to the South Jordan 3rd Ward for their many years of service to our family. They have provided delicious meals to sustain us through this, cleaned up the yard and offered love and prayers of support. We would also like to thank Suncrest Hospice for their tender care of Dorothy in her final hours. We appreciate their kindness and understanding of our needs.

We are so very sorry to hear of Dorothy’s passing. We feel like they are our family too as our son,Jeff, when he was in high school and he & Alan Jones ( Dorothy’s nephew) went to the prom and Mary & Dorothy donned their waitress outfits and fixed them a great dinner.
He loved to visit them and also sister Donna. Then he married Wendy, who is also a niece,
So we were connected. I loved going over there when in town and visiting and sister Jane was a great friend and we sewed and went to quilt stores. We have a few Xmas ornaments also from them and we will always cherish our memories and enjoy our visits in the future.
Love to all❤️❤️🙏

Dear Family of Dorothy,
Truly a remarkable and joyful woman was Dorothy. From chocolate cake, pansies, laughing, teaching, she had a hand in so many activities to bring happiness to any occasion!
May the memories that will be shared bring peace and smiles reminding all of us to try to make someone else's life a little better. This seemed to be the mantra of Dorothy.
Although our paths crossed briefly we were honored to help care for her.
Sending much love,
Suncrest Hospice
