Douglas James Bingham triumphantly returned to the open arms of his Heavenly Father on November 24, 2021 at the age of 73. Although his departure was sudden and premature he was surrounded by everything that mattered to him in this life and in the raging tempest of uncertainty there was great peace. Douglas was born on May 12, 1948 to Paul James Bingham and Maxine Briggs. He married his closest friend and eternal companion for time and all eternity on April 21, 1977. Douglas was a graduate of Brigham Young University and received his Masters in Business Administration from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He served the country he loved with all his heart as a member of the National Guard for 12 years. He lived a selfless life dedicated to his wife and five children. He worked hard to provide for his family and to ensure they never went without while taking no thought for himself. As a man of international business who traveled the world visiting more than 50 countries he ignited a passion for world travel in his family, always sharing his adventures through souvenirs and bedtime stories. Often referred to as “Disneyland Dad” he went above and beyond to make every moment and every occasion something spectacular, turning the mundane into magic.
He was a man of God who went about doing good. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Finland. A place he spoke often and fondly of and a people he deeply loved. As a true disciple of Jesus Christ and the embodiment of Christlike living he was filled with charity, hope, love, and kindness. This could be felt by all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him. He looked at others the way our Heavenly Father sees us and felt a deep love for complete strangers before ever learning their name. He saw the world through rose colored glasses and could only find the good in everyone. He never had a bad thing to say about anyone and was the ultimate cheerleader and champion of the underdog.
Just days into their marriage he and his new bride sat on the footsteps of the St George temple and there drafted a family constitution with all the hopes and desires for their future life together. Serving a mission with his forever sweetheart was one of the desires he most looked forward to and talked about often. He was fortunate enough to serve two distinctively unique missions over what would ultimately be the final two years of his life beginning in Kyiv, Ukraine and finishing at the Nauvoo Historic Sites mission before returning with honor just prior to his passing. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints the gospel was central to every decision he made. He lived every day with an eternal perspective and although gone from this life we know he is reunited with his Savior Jesus Christ saving seats at the celestial table for his eternal family where he did all he could to ensure there will be no empty chairs.
He is survived by his sister Rochelle, wife Jolene, five kids Branden (Mindy), Sean, Justin (Lindsay), Jared (Brittany), and Michelle (Daniel), as well as his nine grandkids and many more who he considered family and treated like nothing less.
A viewing will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens (1950 E 10600 S, Sandy) on Monday November 29th from 6pm-8pm. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, November 30th at the Cameo Park church building located at 8945 S 1700 E, Sandy with a viewing to be held prior beginning at 9:30am. Interment in the Eastlawn Memorial Hills, 4800 N 650 E St, Provo Utah.

But our Lord knows what he is doing, if you think about it, Papa Bingham left this world after having accomplished one of his dreams by going on a mission with his beloved wife, also after having in Nauvoo for a few days just the 5 of your incredible kids with you like the old times, then he got to come home and stayed spending precious time with his only daughter, his little girl, and finally had the opportunity to spend a few days just with his adorable grandkids and wife, where even sweet Landon got to show him his secret place. I’m pretty sure his heart was full and happy. Probably our Lord knew it was the perfect time to leave all of you with those memories and bring him home to heaven.

As a Youtube subscriber to the entire Bingham family. I came to know Papa Bingham through the many videos. What a wonderful man of God he was. Just his demeanor showed us God was always first, then his sweet Jolene, then his children. A tremendous example to all of us as to how we should live life, with a deep appreciation for everything. I hope you know that Papa Bingham led a legacy of giving back, and kindness with each and every step, and each and every breath. He seemed to be a wonderful man, very loving to his five children, and his 9 grandchildren. He raised 4 men and 1 lady, and showed eternal love with his lovely wife "Mana" Bingham.

We were both so young just starting out, really. Then just this year we were blessed to receive a tour of Nauvoo from you and Doug via zoom. I remember so we’ll also my time with Doug in Finland then after we were home, we hooked up to go to the SL Temple several times as young single RMs . I am your Aunt Irene's daughter. My heart goes out to you and your family. It is difficult too loose a loved one but the Lord has a way of comforting us. I buried my husband ten years ago. The thing that gave me the most comfort was Elder Scott's April 2012 conference talk on personal Revelation. There are sections in it that talks about the life after death. I know others who have found comfort in it too.

I was very saddened to hear of Pappa Bingham's passing just had watched him and Momma Jo in fact a few day's ago on OLIH and the kids and them were having such a great time. May God comfort you all during this hard time.
Bishop Bingham was the most selfless, loving, gentle man and a true shepherd to so many of us in our Parleys YSA Ward days. I was incredibly lucky to serve on the Ward Council and often closely hear of his love for each and every person. I last saw him when he attended my sealing to my husband at the Salt Lake Temple, and I remember walking into the room and seeing his eyes gleaming with so much happiness. Just last week I was curious as to what Sister and Bishop Bingham were up to these days. I'm so glad to hear he was able to finish his dream of serving a mission with Sister Bingham before he passed. The world will miss his light and love, but he no doubt left a lasting impression on many and a giant footprint in our hearts.

This news breaks my heart to hear that Papa Bingham has passed away. I watch all of the Bingham vlogs on Youtube and though I am a "stranger", I consider you guys to be part of the family. Your family is amazing and I truly enjoy watching you all because of the positivity and joyfulness that you all bring to each and everyone of us. Papa Bingham and his smile and quick wit just made anyone fall in love with him. He will be greatly missed from the vlogs. I've had the honor to get to know Mr Bingham through his son's YouTube videos and time and time again I marveled at what a wonderful husband, father and grandfather he was. Just a few days before his passing I commented, what a great grandfather he is to his loving grandkids and how I would've loved a grandpa like him.

I’ve watched This Is How We Bingham on YouTube since the beginning, I always loved and appreciated how family oriented they are! My favorite vlogs with Papa Bingham were when all 5 kids surprised their parents on their mission or The Lagoon Vlog or when Ryler set up his first Apple Watch. I also have watched the other Binghams videos as well and always loved when they had their family’s and especially parents in the vlogs they seemed so happy and always laughing I know they all were a very close family and cannot imagine what they all must be going through. To the Bingham Family, When it was 1st known you would not be on Youtube I thought something happened to one of your parents. I cried when I heard it was your dad. I lost both my parents and was with my mom for 4 days & watched as she took her last breath, it was hard. She brought me into this world so I wanted to be there when she left. She was my rock, my friend &to this day I still have have sad moments. I totally understand what you are going through & I pray that God will comfort you through this sad time. In time you will be able to live your lives again even though a big piece is missing. I also believe that we will see our loved ones again in the next life. I have been sick so I know in a few yrs I will be seeing my mom again.Take all the time you need to grieve, your Dad was the best. Although I didn’t know Papa Bingham in person, I still felt loved by him. He made so many people feel part of the Bingham family, and has touched the hearts of many others including me. I lost a grandparent in November 2019 and I know how much it hurts being so close to the holidays. He was an inspirational man and seeing how much he meant to his family was so uplifting. I cant even determine where to begin. I have grown close to all the Bingham families through the wonderful world of YouTube. I remember the fist time I saw Papa Bingham on one of This Is How We Bingham's vlogs and I immediately fell in love with Papa. The Bingham's have taught me what a real family is, how a healthy family interacts, how families can live together forever and where a huge part of my conversion to the LDS faith. I have cried for 2 solid days- I feel like I lost my own dad; that's how much I loved your dad. I have to be honest, the first thing I thought of when I learned of his passing is how blessed you all are to have the special memories you have created over just the past several months. When you kids surprised them while they were still on their mission, and literally every trip as a family since then. And, its remarkable that you just moved them into their own first new home. Im sure it will be hard for Mana Jo to adjust, and I cant even begin to imagine how much she misses him, but to have video footage of him, in the new home, and playing the piano, and establishing the home really sets the tone for the continued love he will bless all who enter Mana and Papas new home. Doug always brought a smile to my face. I may not have known him personally, but he radiated genuine love and positivity. The Bingham’s were truly blessed to have him as a family member. Losing your Dad is a difficult thing. However, knowing that families are forever is the greatest gift.

Seeing the news of Papa Doug Bingham’s sudden passing was so heartbreaking to hear about.
Having never met Doug in person, I feel so privileged to have been able to watch his interactions with his kids, Jolene and grandkids - never have I seen someone’s eyes shine so brightly with kindness and warmth.

I found out about the Bingham's through TIHWB and have followed your family for quite a while. I love the joy you all have together as a family and that comes from having amazing parents and then they turn into amazing grandparents. It was such a sudden passing that I know it will take time to sink in and deal with. My mom passed about 3 years ago and I still talk to her everyday in my mind and heart. I love the inner child that shows up so often with your father and also a man with a passionate and deep love for his wife. May he rest in peace and may all of you continue to find joy from him through your memories.
May you remember all the good times you had and thank God for them. I know we’ve never met me ,but my heart breaks for you. I feel like I know you from all the Bingham tapes and videos. He was like a Papa to everyone. I will continue praying for the family during this very difficult time.

I want to begin by saying I am so very sorry for the loss of such an incredible man. He was the greatest dad, papa & friend anyone could ask for. It’s such a strange feeling to care for someone so much and yet you’ve never met them. Watching the funeral service I cried from beginning to end. It was such a unexpected passing. The fact he held out till all his family could get there before he took his final breath just shows you the kind of man he was. He was all about Jesus, helping people and his beloved family. He had so much love for every single one of you and it would show just how much through every video he was is. I always wished Doug & Jolene would start a YouTube because they were hilarious when they wanted to be but could give such good advice when asked. I ran across this and wanted to share it because I believe it sounds like him.

I just feel like this would be papa Bingham to a T because he loved his family so very much he would not want you all to sit in a gloomy room crying about his loss but rejoice that he is with Jesus waiting to welcome each one of you as you arrive and to show you everything he’s already seen with a smile on his face. I bet he is already in one of those big yachts he seen on his trip with Jared and Brit loving life.
From the time we are young, our mother and father are the gentle hands who lead us through life, tenderly showing us which paths to take as we grow up. And when that guiding light is gone, we can feel an immense sense of loss and sorrow like no other.
Some days will be harder than others and take the time to cry, it’s part of the healing process.
For Christmas this year I think you should get a lot of white flat rocks that can be ordered on Amazon and have everyone write a memory or two and put It in a nice container. When you’re feeling down open and read some of those messages and it will make you feel better. If you think of one you wish you would’ve put in there, add to it. Since your family is so big I would let the container go from house to house maybe a month at a time and when you feel like you’re done with the container and you’ve put all you want into it, give it to your mom to sit somewhere as a decoration.
Again, I am so very sorry for your loss. If I didn’t live all the way in Clayton, NC I would come give you all big hugs!!!! We will be greatly missed but also rejoiced for the man he was. He leaves behind a wonderful legacy! Thank You, We Love You!

Papa had such a light to him. He could brighten up anyones day with his happiness and smile. He reminded me of my grandpa. So happy and carefree and loving. I feel you don’t need to personally know Papa Bingham to know he was an amazing man. I find it amazing that the last big thing he got to do was their mission, which like they said they’ve been waiting their whole lives to do it. He got to live out his dream right before the end. To all the Bingham. I just wanted to say I'm pray for each one of you to get through this best you can. It is okay to spend a lot of time together. Just take things day by day and know that some days will be harder than other. But as long as you have eachother you'll make it through. Oh and one more thing, He's going to always be with you, whether in your heart, in memory, ect. Also ask for sign you may not always get one but there are some. My mom gets signs like rainbows, a fist in the sky, ect. I have lost 5 people really close to me in 2 1/2 years and 2 animals. My family spent a lot of time together grieving, laughing at memory, making new memories while celebrating his life. ONE LAST THING "THIS IS NOT GOODBYE IT'S SIMPLY SEE YOU LATER"!_! I am so sorry for your loss. I have watched TIHWB since 2018 and feel like I am a part of your family. Your dad was a sweet man, and through the videos, I could tell he was full of life. He loved his family very much. On June 26, 2016, I lost my grandmother due to dementia, and then my grandfather on July 22, 2016, due to him missing his wife too much and other various medical problems. It shocked us how quickly he died, so I can imagine how yall felt with this being unexpected. I am praying for strength in the coming days for your sweet family. It is hard losing someone you loved very dearly, and it does get easier but give yourself grace when you want to grieve.

I have been watching videos from just about all of the family members who are vloggers for quite some time now. It's hard to believe it's been one year since you all lost such a valuable member of the family. He embodied joy in every aspect of his being. It was tough how quickly he was here and then gone but he will always be with you all in spirit and waiting for the day you will all be reunited.
