Corey Lane Karren

1959 ~ 2017

Corey Lane Karren, 58, died unexpectedly on August 7, 2017 in his home in Sandy. He was born January 22, 1959 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the youngest child of Boyd Thomas Karren and Pauline Dorothy Gillespie Karren. After graduating from Highland High School in 1977, Corey obtained his journeyman electrician certification. He worked for most of his career—thirty-five years—as an electrician for Intermountain Healthcare, with some time also spent doing home contracting work and as co-owner of Genesis Cabinets. Corey loved golfing and spending time at Bear Lake with his childhood friend, Kelly Wells. Corey had one daughter, Nicole, with his first wife, Tracy Saunders. He had one daughter, Anna, with his second wife, Jennifer Halander Smith. He was also stepfather to Jennifer's daughter, Rachel. Corey was extremely proud of his three daughters. His family has many fond memories of boating on Bear Lake, camping trips, and attending University of Utah football games with Corey. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Corey is survived by his wife Jennifer Karren; daughters Rachel Anderson (Brent), Nicole Sutera (Casey), and Anna Freudenberger (Jordan); grandchildren CJ Sutera, Elizabeth Anderson, Paisley Freudenberger, and Jane Anderson; and siblings Brent Karren and Kristine Higham. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Craig Karren.
