Charles Dee Hoglund

1942 ~ 2015

Charles Dee Hoglund, age 73, passed away December 1, 2015 at the Huntsman Cancer Institute after a short battle with leukemia. He was surrounded by his family. Charles was born January 22, 1942 to Chester and Daisy Hoglund. He was raised in Bingham, Utah and graduated from Bingham High School in 1960. Shortly after high school he joined the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam War. After an honorable discharge as a boatswain's mate on the U.S.S. Columbus he followed his father's footsteps and began working at Kennecott Copper mine, where he worked for 30 years.

Charles lived a life of service and had compassion toward those in need. He will be remembered most for his kindness and his gentle nature. His heart of gold blessed many lives and he will be missed by all who knew him. Charles was a fighter. Whenever he was faced with tough situations in life, he fought every step of the way, never complaining and always with a positive attitude. Charles had a passion for trains. He also enjoyed bowling and attending all family events. Charles had a wonderful sense of humor and was a very hard worker throughout his life.

Charles is survived by his wife Cheryl; sons Michael (Robin); Jason (Laura); Chris, Garrett; grandchildren; Hayden, Cole, Tess, Isabell, Isaac, Iris and Ivaya; Hayedsisters Carol and Barbara; niece and nephews; his nephew Grant, whom he loved like a son; and his granddog, Lucy.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, brother Larry, sister Susan, nephew Cody and his brother-in-law Jess.

The family would like to give special thanks to the ICU staff and the Reverend Linda at the Huntsman Cancer Institute for the exceptional care and love that was given to Charles and his family.

Graveside services will be held on Monday December 7th 2015 at 1:00 pm at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 S.) A viewing will be held prior to services, from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm.
