Mary Maxwell Miller

1923 ~ 2014

Mary Maxwell Miller, loving mother, grandmother, and friend passed away in her Salt Lake City home, January 19, 2014. She was born in Fort Collins, CO, to A.C. (Bud) and Daisy Dean Maxwell. Mary attended school in a one room school house at Tie Siding, Wyoming near the ranch where she grew up. Later after graduating from Laramie High School in 1941 she attended the University of Wyoming in Laramie where she met and 6 months later married Leais G. Miller on Oct. 13, 1946. Two children, Stephen and Michael, were brought into the world while Mary and Leais lived in Laramie.They moved to Midvale, Utah in 1953 and spent 47 years raising their family there before moving to Ft. Collins, CO. to care for an ailing sister. After Lee passed away in 2003, Mary had several long stays in Tahiti with her son Michael and daughter-in-law Tepiu where she lived in a bungalow on the beach and eventually moved in 2007 with Michael and Tepiu back to Utah where she lived until her passing. Mary enjoyed flower gardening, traveling, family history work and cooking for and entertaining quests, bowling, swimming, golf and walking. She was a great organizer and was always positive and never complained. She was a faithful member of the L.D.S. Church and served in numerous callings, her favorite was working in the primary where she served for many years. Mary worked in several different jobs, and retired from the LDS Cottonwood Hospital Dietary Dept. She loved spending time with her family. Her home was always open to those who visited her and who needed a place to stay; room was always found for everyone.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, her sisters, brother and one grandson. She had 3 siblings and was last to pass away. Her siblings were Albert William Maxwell, Agnes Mary Maxwell and Esther Maxwell. She is survived by her children Stephen and Michael, 4 grandchildren, Amber Lee Miller (Kent), Scott Maxwell Miller, Nathan David Miller and Ryan Aaron Miller and 8 great-grand children.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 25, 2014, 2:00 p.m., at the LDS Stake Center 142 W. 200 N. Salt Lake City, UT. Interment will be at the Grandview Cemetery, Ft.Collins, CO.
