Lou K. Mitchell aged 93, passed away in Payson, Utah on February 25, 2015.
Lou was born on March 9, 1921 in Salt Lake County, Utah to Ivie Vawdrey Mitchell and Louie Mitchell. Lou was always interested in electronics and at a very young age became involved with repairing and using radios. The U. S. Army took advantage of his skill with radios by inducting him into the Signal Corps in 1942. Lou served in campaigns in New Guinea, the Philippines and Okinawa during the war. Lou was discharged in late 1945 with the rank of staff sergeant.
Lou worked for the U. S. Government after the war and then attended the University of Utah obtaining a degree in electronic engineering. Lou spent the rest of his career working for the U. S. Air Force until he retired in 1977.
Lou enjoyed helping family and neighbors, playing chess and also working on his home and cars during his retirement years. Lou was preceded in death by sisters Ruth Mitchell Romm and Beth Mitchell Ingersoll.
Lou will be interned at the Sandy City Cemetery. At Lou's request, there will be no formal services.
