Dale Haslam Marler

1927 ~ 2017

Dale Haslam Marler, born January 2, 1927, in Lewiston, Utah, to Loron Ariel and Velma Haslam Marler, passed away December 18, 2017 in Layton, Utah. Throughout the years, he was surrounded by family and loved ones.

Dale graduated from South High in Salt Lake City, where he met his sweetheart, Inez Brimley. He served in the U.S. Navy as a medic corpsman during World War II. Upon his safe return, Dale fell in love with and proposed to Inez, marrying in the Salt Lake Temple October 17, 1947.

Dale ran a successful tire business, Marler Tire Company in Ogden, Utah. He was especially skilled at conversing and building relationships one-on-one which helped him to enjoy working with customers all day. He loved to travel with Inez to many distant lands in conjunction with tire conventions. He had a passion for flying airplanes and obtained his sea-plane and commercial pilot's license.

Dale and Inez provided their family a cabin at Bear Lake, Utah where every summer was filled with overnight visits of many friends and family for unforgettable memories. Boating and water sports were part of growing up. He and Inez retired to Mesa, Arizona where they began running a water business. They soon realized they should take advantage of living on a golf course and loved golfing regularly.

Dale served in various positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints including serving in a bishopric and Stake High Council, assigned to manage the stake farm in South Weber, Utah which he did very diligently and prosperously.

To know Dale is to love him. He was kind, caring and had a special interest in learning people's names and making them feel like he was their best friend, being free with compliments. He had a sincere, deep and abiding love for his wife, children, grand-children and great grand-children.

Dale is survived by his children and their spouses: Jeff and Linda Marler, Jill Marler Poll, Joel Marler, Cory and Ronda Marler; sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Ron Hoffman; and his 12 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Inez; sweet 1st baby son, Gary Marler (age 11 mos.); brother and sister-in-law, Duane and Bonnie Marler; sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Clyde Gibson; and son-in-law, Gary Poll.

Dale and his family want the staff at Fairfield Assisted Living to know of our love and appreciation for the 4 years he spent there and for the excellent care that he received. We are most recently deeply appreciative of Brighton Hospice whose care, coordination, concern and love are beyond compare.
