Ralph W Stoddard

1924 ~ 2019

Ralph Wintris Stoddard, 1924-2019, Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at home with his loved ones on May 28, 2019.

He was born in Cascade, Montana on July 14, 1924 to James Lehi Stoddard and Anna Lillian Liljenquist. The family then moved to Hyrum, Utah where he met his sweetheart Lois Vivian Allen.

Ralph enlisted in the army at the age of 18. He served in WWII in France, Italy, and Africa. He was wounded twice and awarded 2 purple hearts. He achieved the rank of sergeant and served honorably in the 83rd Chemical Mortar Battalion. One of his favorite keepsakes was his WWII veteran hat. He enjoyed interacting with those interested in learning about his service.

When Ralph returned home from the war 2 months later, he and Lois were married in Paradise, Utah and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Ralph was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in various callings.

Ralph worked for Utah Power and Light as a lineman, troubleshooter and then became the supervisor of the Midvale Service Center. He retired early and spent time with his sweetheart Lois. He was always helping and serving his family.

He is known by his nickname "Pop". Grandchildren and great-grandchildren will remember the many cherished memories spent with Pop. Even as his family grew over the years, he found the time to create individual memories with everyone.

Ralph is survived by his wife Lois Stoddard; brother Keith (Carol) Stoddard; sister Mildred Jensen; daughter Vickie Blodgett; son Gary (Debi); Daughter Teresa (Dale) Triptow; Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) in Sandy beginning at 2PM. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Interment to follow services at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
