Lila J. West, loving wife, mother and grandmother, returned to our Heavenly Father on July 20, 2015 at the age of 79. Lila passed away as a result of natural causes and was surrounded by her devoted husband and family. Lila was born on January 21, 1936, daughter of Virgil Gier and Clara Katherine Souza Catrina, in Turlock, California. She earned her Bachelor Degree from San Jose State and became an elementary school teacher. She married her sweetheart, Roger, on December 20, 1958 in Palo Alto, California. Lila loved cooking and baking and she thrived on spending time with family and loved to reminisce. She battled Lupus for over 55 years and beat the odds with the dedication of her husband.
Lila is survived by her husband, Roger of 56 years; Daughters; Lori West, Jennifer (Kevin) Heim and Rebecca Huffman; Grandchildren; Julie (Francis) Nunziata, Jamie (Patrick) Walthers, Johnathan Salter, Joshua Salter, Jackie Salter, Janelle Salter, Jenessa (Derek) Kramer, Bailey (Austin) Walker, Elizabeth Huffman and Jeffery Huffman, 6 great-grandchildren; and Siblings; Gene Wear, Nancy Costa and Roy Gier. She is preceeded in death by her parents; her brother, Herman Gier; and a great-grandson, Timothy.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, July 27that 12:00pm with a viewing from10:00-11:30am. The viewing and services will be held at the LDS Chapel at 1000 East 11500 South, Sandy, UT 84094. Interment will take place at the Rocky Ridge Cemetery.
