Effi C. Leonard, age 70, passed away on October 3, 2025, in Sandy, Utah. She was born on June 17, 1955, in Darmstadt, Germany, to Eugene M. Christensen and Jenni Christensen (Rinck). When Effi moved to Utah with her family at the age of ten, she spoke only German. Over time, she embraced her new home while always remaining proud of her heritage, often sharing stories and phrases from her early years in Germany.
Effi met the love of her life, Bruce A. Leonard, at the pool in their apartment complex, and from that first meeting, they built a beautiful life together. They were married on August 1, 1980, and shared forty-five wonderful years of laughter, adventure, and love. Together, they created a home full of warmth and happy memories.
Effi worked professionally as a bookkeeper, where her attention to detail and strong work ethic were admired by all who worked with her. Outside of work, she was known for her generous spirit, sense of adventure, and love for family and friends. She and Bruce bought an RV and a boat so they could spend countless weekends camping, boating, and making memories with all those that she loved. She enjoyed road trips, chatting with friends, and was always planning the next getaway. Effi was the first to lend a helping hand and brought warmth and laughter wherever she went.
Her greatest joy came from being “Oma” to her grandchildren, Kian and Ariana, who adored her dearly. She was endlessly proud of them, and her face lit up whenever she spoke about their accomplishments, laughter, and time together.
She is survived by her husband Bruce; daughter Kathryn A. Fargam, spouse Bezhan, and grandchildren Kian (8) and Ariana (4); and son Michael D. Leonard, spouse Alexandra. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jens M. Christensen (April 19, 2006).
A Celebration of Life open house will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd (10600 S.), Sandy, Utah. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate Effi’s wonderful life.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Effi’s memory to the Utah Humane Society.
